The structure is completely made up with no room for progression or a clear promotion ladder. The salary is un competitive at all levels below ‘management’. There is certainly a “if your face fits culture” with particular people managing to get promotions to jobs they have no idea how to do because they’re the flavour of the month. What sums up my experience is that I was with the business for 4 years, when I came to leave I heard nothing from any management what so ever, they probably wouldn’t look you in the eye in the street. There is un deniably an “us and them” culture between management and the remainder of the work force. The company is far too top heavy with management, most of which nobody knows what they do. On the whole it’s is essentially ran like a dictatorship by the MD because the business is so small. Ultimately, although there were in my time some brilliant engineers to work alongside considering the management and higher ups you have to deal with I wouldn’t recommend unless you have very few options.
