Pros

Working with amazing, talented people in an open-plan, friendly and relaxed environment. Staff are passionate about the work they do, approachable and open to sharing knowledge at all levels. A good mix of perks such as flexitime, city centre location, NHS top up, cycle-to-work, pension, gym and regular social events make it all the better. Promotes inclusion and diversity. Working to greater lengths to make sure all individuals and their values are respected. The recent organisational review process has identified some real insights into how the business is currently operating and ways to improve and scale for the future.

Cons

Somewhat a victim of its own success. A growing and fast-paced business such as Adtrak need a faster hiring process to help resource the increasing workload and ways to improve staff morale. Reduce retention by investing in your staff.

Pros

Adtrak is generally a welcoming and friendly place to work, with excellent individuals across the organisation. There are people who care about doing good work and supporting their colleagues, which helps make the day-to-day environment more manageable.

Cons

The structure of the development teams and the way work is allocated. Tasks can feel randomly assigned, which often makes straightforward work more difficult than it needs to be. Project briefs are light on detail, leaving developers to track down assets, copy, domain details, hosting information, and other essentials before any meaningful work can begin. There is a "set it and forget it" attitude towards website builds, likely due to the fact there are no processes in place for ongoing website maintenance and security. This is the first time I've witnessed such a blatant disregard for security processes in nearly 10 years. Zero visible accountability when senior development staff failed to follow the same processes they expected others to work within. That creates a difficult dynamic for developers who are being told to follow standards that are not applied consistently. Overall, it is not a terrible place to work, if you are able to switch off from the noise and focus on the task in front of you. However, there are obvious operational and technical shortfalls that make the developer experience frustrating.
