Organization has potential, but is grossly mismanaged - Project Coordinator Accellis Employee Review

Pros

Hybrid/Remote schedule – depending on your role you can pretty much work fully remote with only occasional days required in the office for quarterly and monthly meetings. Unlimited PTO – if you get your work done well and on time all reasonable PTO is approved. WARNING – this is changing in practice. Executive management has said that new employees should get more like 4 weeks PTO and have instructed management to deny requests. There has been no formal change to the company policy; highly unethical. Great coworkers – there are some smart guys here, like real rockstars. They are always willing to share their knowledge and teach you new things with patience. Not a stuffy corporate environment – the vibe is very chill. You talk to each other like real people. You don’t have to hold your tongue (profanity is used freely, which may be a con for some.) Training is encouraged and paid for. There are free snacks and drinks at the office when you come in.

Cons

Accellis offers significantly low salaries. They are nowhere near industry standards or market rates. They are fully aware and non-apologetic about this. High performing employees are constantly tasked with more and more. If you’re good at your job you won’t be rewarded, you will be exploited and downright taken advantage of. There is no room for advancement or career progression in most roles. I was blatantly lied to and told that I would be taking over a department. After months of hard work and great performance I realized they never had any intention of giving me a promotion. I was strung along and blatantly lied to by senior management. This was a family-owned business until they were bought out in 2023. There is severe nepotism for the remaining family. This is accepted across the entire company. They are recognized as being awful at their job and described as worthless, yet no one has the backbone to discipline or fire them. This creates a negative work environment for all as they must constantly fix mistakes and address inadequacies. There is definitely a Good Ole Boys Club. If you’re not part of the old crew your thoughts, ideas, and suggestions are ignored or undervalued. Senior management is downright unprofessional. I once heard a Director making fun of and mocking an Engineer to one of the Engineer’s peers. They have the wrong people in leadership roles. The Good Ole Boys who were promoted were done so because of favoritism not skill. They know they’re too cheap to attract new talent, so they settle for who they have rather than bringing in capable talent. There is a quite a bit of turnover. New employees are courted through the interview process and quickly realize they have entered a broken organization. They are just plain cheap. Basic things like cleaning, building maintenance, and pest control are overlooked. Surveys are not anonymous – if you have a strong feeling about something that needs to change, they are going to know who it is coming from. The office space is shared with another company. When everyone is in the office there is not enough room and it is very loud. Those who are considering working for this organization are STRONGLY cautioned! This organization has serious potential that is wasted by negligent management. Things have gone significantly downhill…fast. There is no recovery insight without a major overhaul to several outdated ways of thinking and reorganization.

Pros

Benefits, culture, people, and snacks! I made a lot of friends and had an amazing experience working there. The offices are beautiful and they also offer hybrid work. The work-life-balance was about as good as it gets for an MSP.

Cons

There are a many of cons about the MSP business in general but that's going to be anywhere.

Pros

The clients! Otherwise, I have none.

Cons

-Lack of communication, structure, and leadership engagement -Lack of basic professionalism and inclusion toward new employees -Poor project planning, outdated documentation, and unclear expectations -Minimal onboarding or support for new hires -Unprofessional and dismissive workplace culture -Minimal collaboration or peer support -High-stress environment driven by disorder rather than urgency When I was hired, the company was still under its prior ownership. During that period, leadership was visible, polite, and respectful, and there was a basic sense of professionalism in daily interactions. After a leadership transition, the culture and communication shifted noticeably. As a new hire, I experienced very limited guidance or engagement from leadership. Expectations were often unclear; project plans lacked critical details, and documentation was frequently outdated or inaccurate. Collaboration within the team was inconsistent, and requests for clarification were not always met with professionalism, making it difficult to succeed or grow in the role. The organization appeared heavily layered with senior and management roles, while the engineers responsible for day-to-day delivery received minimal support or direction. Those closest to the work were often expected to absorb the impact of unclear planning, shifting priorities, and client pressures, with little visibility or advocacy from leadership. Over time, the environment became increasingly chaotic. Engineers were frequently tasked with managing client expectations without adequate internal backing, and project requirements changed without clear communication. The overall culture felt unstructured and, at times, dismissive toward frontline contributors. Based on my experience, success in this environment requires a high tolerance for ambiguity, limited guidance, and the ability to operate independently in the absence of consistent leadership support.

We acknowledge the importance of clear communication, strong onboarding, current documentation, and engaged leadership. These are areas we continue to strengthen as the organization evolves. Our expectation is that employees are supported by structure, professionalism, and respect, and we remain committed to improving how teams are equipped to deliver for wonderful clients.
