Pros

None whatsoever. That may seem extreme, but while AVI-SPL may be the company of choice for A/V integration, there is much that they lack in managed service. If you are a creative professional of any type, think twice before working under the AVI-SPL banner. AVI-SPL has acquired a video production company, so this may change in the future. As of now, I would not recommend this company to any creative.

Cons

AVI-SPL is full of dedicated A/V engineers. They do good work installing and creating A/V environments for their clients. AVI-SPL is expanding into the world of managed services, placing teams to develop content and run the equipment that they sell at client sites. I lead a team at a client site. After my first week, I felt I made a bad choice in moving to AVI-SPL. There were no provisions or procedures to acquire equipment and consumable goods. There was no roadmap to getting digital asset management or backup tools for editing booths. I had zero power to effect the systems or work of my team. In fact, I spent much of my first month dealing with a racist, homophobic, bully from another company that was to be integrated to my team. Before I began, AVI-SPL management reviewed this person and thought he might be OK to keep on. E-mails to the regional manager and our account executive went unanswered, or we were redirected back to the client. The AVI-SPL team was were very vocal in their lack of knowledge or ability in content development or management. However, they were suspicious of the relationship I developed with another team's producer.

Pros

Regionally dominant, opportunity for growth is there. Steady work, and management seems to let onsite techs do their best without micromanaging. The service team is top-notch if you ever need to lean on them.

Cons

Benefits. they need to address benefits to help retain top-end talent. PTO and vesting schedule is a little weak. LOTS of middle management in some areas. Health prems and 401k match are also not so great
