Pros
-Get to do technical engineering work! -During recession employees were switched to hourly instead of laying off. -New management (2018). -Supposedly employees will soon get bonuses and other incentives based on performance. -Get paid for all hours worked. -Employer tries to match APEGA salary survey for base salary.
Cons
-No real perks that you would typically see at bigger engineering firms. -Have to pay own APEGA dues. -Historically have been no performance based incentives (like bonuses) -Only receive a base salary. -Employee reviews are infrequent (longer than 1.5 years between them, when supposed to be yearly). -During reviews (old) management downplays employee's importance saying "excellent performance is expected". -Historically company has kept employees in dark regarding state of company (this is supposed to change). -Some employees switched to hourly while others kept on salary, then some switched back to salary while still keeping some on hourly. -Medical benefits are lack luster. -No RRSP contribution matching. -Rarely have company events (like stampede party or Xmas party).
