Pros

I really do not see any.

Cons

After acquiring Rural Metro, the company did a poor job integrating its business units. Huge pay disparity between 2 business units working side to side was disastrous for morale. Company doesn't value its employees, but rather sees them as disposable. Scarce advancement possibilities for field employees. Poor employee retention. Horrendous working conditions (400,000+ miles on certain units and no AC in the Summer in AZ), sub-par patient care equipment, sub-par employee training. This company clearly doesn't value its employees and doesn't care much about the patients it transports. All that counts is profit.

Pros

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Cons

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Pros

AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

Cons

Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
