Good brand, but poor business operations make sales hard - Sales Representative ADT Employee Review

Pros

ADT is certainly the brand leader for security in the US, and that helps with sales. The commissions are good, and I think that this prepared me well for future sales jobs. While I was at ADT, new employee training improved and new hires are taught about the product and service instead of just how to close a sale.

Cons

From the job description/interview/hiring process, I understood that my job would be easier: sales by appointment, lots of leads for outbound calling, etc. I was deceived. In reality, sales reps do door-to-door sales in horrible weather and often get the door slammed on our faces. Good leads are given to manager's favorites, and many sales reps end up doing cold calls. Sales commissions are good, but you have to use scare tactics to close the sale and meet the sales quotas and goals.

Pros

I've worked for the company for 40+ years, I'm treated with respect and my efforts are recognized by my Director and other ADT leaders. They give me the autonomy to manage my department and value my experience and insight. They offer a solid benefits package. ADT leads by example with their cultural markers and ensures that rules and laws are followed. I love the collaboration I have with our other departments.

Cons

Obviously, we all want more money, especially given the prices of everything, it's always nice to make more money, but I've checked the compensation and benefits in similar positions outside of ADT and I feel ADT is paying a fair wage and when I factor in the benefits package, they are above average in overall compensation.
