Pros
This was my first job, albeit a part-time one, right after receiving a BA and the pay wasn't that terrible for someone with no real world experience. This was an ideal stepping stone for someone who knew they wouldn't want to stay in the field for long, but needed the skills for the next position. The best part of my short tenure at ACES was definitely how rewarding putting all of those hours into working with children can be-- you can see how much the behaviors have positively changed and it's overwhelming when parents thank you for the efforts you've put in. And to this day, the skills I've learned from this job are still applicable and relevant to my current job even though it's an entirely different field.
Cons
It was difficult to attain a full week's worth minimum of employment and I never got along with my supervisor. This job required so much traveling and there were times when clients would cancel without notice. So, there was burn out, there was frustration. And there's really no communication within or amongst the "team" when I was working, so employee morale was quite low. FYI, there is a high turnover rate in this field for a reason, but maybe things have and hopefully changed by now.
