Pros

Loved my time at 51 Labs. Really recommend working here for anyone who: ...is looking to pivot into marketing--51L will pay competitively w/ little experience and train on the job ...is looking for insane exposure/access to private equity powerhouses--you'll be working directly with MDs and Partners ...wants to use a marketing skillset to pivot into BD Other pros: - promote and reward quickly - great crash course on private equity, venture capital, etc. - calendar flexibility, gym reimbursement - opportunity to not only do your job but materially grow and impact the business - a knack for hiring amazing people. made exceptional friends!

Cons

This organization moves FAST and you need to be ready. If you can handle this, it's not a con! Just be flexible for last minute shoots, responsibility shifting, project swaps, etc. Being a "builder" isn't just a plus at 51L, it's a must. Oftentimes you will be faced with writing your own process, learning by doing, etc. If you love innovating like this, not a con! Folks who can take an idea with little direction and see it to fully-realized-completion will do well here. Folks who can't may struggle.

Pros

Uhm, I got paid? That was pretty much the only Pros.

Cons

It was absolutely terrible. I'm telling you guys, DO NOT work here. If you're young and need a job, please don't go here. Management was basically non-existent, and they are in DIRE need of an HR department because Jesus Christ, they did so many things that a company should NOT be doing. Management was so invasive and I honestly felt so uncomfortable being in-office. They'll shower you with compliments in the beginning, tell you how great you are, and then a few weeks down the line you're scum to their shoes. They do not value their employees. I am pretty sure they hired like 7 people before me, and out of the 7, 5 of them quit. Also, Jordan needs to learn how to communicate with people. I don't understand why he is the way he is. It's not because "that's just how he is", he needs to actually learn to sit down and have a normal conversation with someone. He comes off WAY TOO invasive, and forces you to communicate in the way that he does (which is impossible). I really don't appreciate any of you in management. I'm sorry, but it had to be said. Be more professional, kind, and caring, that goes a long way. I was nothing but that in the first few weeks, and I just felt like I was being taken advantage of in the middle of pure chaos. Oh yeah! Be prepared for constant notifications during non-work hours, and yep, even on the weekends! How wonderful does that sound!
