Pros

Opportunity to make commission: if you get VIP’s (sign people up to monthly donations) or make over $150 sales per hour Some really nice and supportive supervisors! Nice colleagues - mostly young people. Free food - company buys food (bread, ham, cheese etc to make toasties) noodles, tea coffee etc. Free take out every Friday - usually pizza or fish and chips I think the highlight is most of the colleagues and some supervisors just being genuine nice people.

Cons

No job security.. They treat you like a cog in the machine All they care about is you making sales If you can’t make at least the hourly rate they send you home early - stressful if you depend on the job financially Employees would have mental breakdowns due to stress Unethical fundraising - the scripts they write for you to follow is rude e.g objective handling that guilt trips the other person on phone - exploitation of old people over phone encouraged : expected to objection handle people on the pension.. push them for sales even if they say they barely have enough for food to you They listen to phone calls and if you don’t push for sales they send you home and you don’t get paid - or they fire you. Terrible unethical company - scripts are misleading (deceiving people into monthly donations by the wording making it seem like your just sending an email to them - disguising it being an ‘opt out’ process) Forced to say script word by word even if it’s unethical The supervisors aren’t allowed to be a reference for you unless the owner of company gives them permission.. very controlling of owner She lives in Australia so doesn’t reply to emails and doesn’t say yes to people who want a reference to move on to a better job - makes it feel like they want to keep you stuck there Toilet breaks timed for 3 minutes: if you go over it automatically clocks you out and you don’t get paid : they don’t care if your a human and have needs basically Main supervisor in NZ office is a narcissist. The fact that he got a position as a supervisor is a red flag - people who are unethical do well in this company (e.g can push for sales no matter how it makes other person on phone feel) More males working than females Overall not a place I’d recommend anyone working - feels like slow torture to work there. Extremely draining mentally

Pros

Friendly co-workers, if you have natural sales skills you will thrive. The people and energy was what made me stay for as long as I did

Cons

- It is often unclear as to the true nature of the business and fundraising efforts. Any attempt to question where the money goes etc. is swiftly put out by management. - Little to no training, prey on student and single parents desperate for work, unethical sales strategies to try and trick people into giving money to the business - Routinely witnessed people conduct sales over the phone that were not in line with legal requirements for data privacy - Management have zero interest in retention, as soon as one person leaves someone else comes in
