Pros

No need to work more than 40 hours. In fact, I’m not sure if this is even allowed depending on the contract they have with the client! Everyone is very kind.

Cons

You might not really have a connection with 47/Xebia, because you work with the client so not much of a bond with the company. Your experience is a function of the client you work with. This is hit or miss. No time off to attend conferences, even though they organise them, because they want to maximize profits. Not much scope to be promoted. The review rounds for promotion happen once a year only. It’s worthwhile negotiating a good salary when you first join as it might not change for a while. The benefits are very limited. It is still early days to see what the Xebia acquisition means for 47, but it doesn’t seem particularly positive so far. For example the company wide meet up was cancelled.

Pros

Truly kind people. Focus on technical growth. Opportunities to speak at conferences and do open source work. Fully remote work and colleagues from all over the world. Internal training when on the bench is awesome between clients.

Cons

As awesome as 47 is, your daily life is dictated by your client, which can be hit or miss. Salaries are on the lower end of average for Scala developers, but this is somewhat balanced by the fact they are pretty laid-back about bench time.

Pros

100% remotes and the absence of a cult like culture prevalent in most consultancies.

Cons

Pay it’s just so so. Mentorship is a joke. Leadership is laughable.
