Pros
The best reason to work for 3DLabs Semiconductor is its close distance to London. This gives a great opportunity for engineers who have settled down (due to Spouse's job location in London, etc) in Greater London Region, to continue their career in IC design. 3DLabs is a small fabless IC design company which gives engineers an opportunity to be exposed to entire IC design flow from software, hardware, test to marketing and sales. The work and life balance is very well maintained in 3Dlabs. The work pressure is low and working environment is very relaxed and flexible. The free drinks benefits is definitely a plus, most of the people in the company are friendly and they can remember your name!
Cons
The lack of recognition and promotion system in 3DLabs is stopping engineers from being more innovative and aggressive in pursuing better design efficiencies. The team morale is low, with job satisfaction has to be entirely coming from employees self-willingness to resolve technical issues. 3DLabs salary pay range is average from nationwide point of view, but considered low from based on it's location (close proximity to London). 3DLabs has close to 14 years history and thus not considered as start up. As such, the conventional design flow, which proved to be working, is an obstacle for newly joined engineers to implement risk-taking on design flow improvements. Lastly, team communication is severely lack of in 3DLabs due to non-existent project meeting (none at all). The lack of project meeting limits technical growth of employees, as there is no technical mutual discussion for latest design issues. Different teams have no information of the progress of another. Eventually, an ambitious and talented engineer might end up leaving the company, or rather choosing to say "I don't give a d*mn" while encountering any design issue, as the extra hard work is not rewarded.
