Pros

The team/co-workers were fantastic, very experienced in multiple fields and disciplines and a real pleasure to work woth

Cons

Despite somewhat good intentions, the MD/CEO failed to see that they were a key reason for the majority of staff turnover (15+ over 2 years) which was as a result of not listening to staff, not supporting them or adhering to their expertise regarding work related matters which made working for them incredibly difficult. Staff were not always treated as they should, again directly by the MD and as they were also the ‘HR’ person, it made it very difficult to ever pull them up on it. Over several years, the team created some truly fantastic work and processes to ensure quality, however, due to the large majority of staff leaving, theses quality have now been lost and the remaining team just doesn’t have the same or necessary skill sets

Pros

Working at 1minus1 has been a great experience for me. I've had a lot of creative freedom, which has helped me grow my confidence and experiment with different content formats and ideas. The team is really supportive and collaborative- everyone’s happy to help each other out, and that makes a big difference day to day. One of the things I’ve enjoyed most is the variety of projects. I've worked on campaigns for both indie developers and bigger studios, which keeps things interesting and has helped me adapt quickly to different tones, audiences, and goals. It’s also been a great environment to build up my skills across the board- whether it’s strategy, content creation, or influencer outreach. Overall, it’s a fast-paced place where you’re trusted to take ownership, and that’s helped me become a more well-rounded, confident marketer.

Cons

There have definitely been some challenges during my time at 1minus1, but I’ve learned a lot from them. The pace is really fast, and with multiple clients to juggle, it can sometimes feel like there’s not much time to slow down and focus on long-term strategy. It’s made me much better at managing my time and prioritising. Because it’s a smaller team, everyone wears a lot of hats, which has helped me build a broad skill set.

Pros

- Amazing clients - being in the video games industry, working on many NDA projects, getting to see behind the scenes. - Amazing colleagues - Everyone is passionate and talented. So much kindness and laughing. - A CEO that cares - I've worked at so many digital marketing agencies and small businesses and the owners are all self serving. But Jon, although a bit disorganised, cares about the people, their progression, doing what's best for the team. - Flexibility - We work from home, but aren't chained to our desks. Many people with young family's, able to do school runs etc in the middle of the day and work around that. We are treated like adults, trusted to get on with things. - Trust - I have never worked anywhere im trusted to get on with it, i am allowed to make decisions and asked not told. Companies often hire you for your knowledge and breath down your neck - not here. Your opinion is asked and valued, It took me 6 months working here to get used to not asking 'can i/should i' - it was so freeing learning i didnt have to work somewhere where you were being micromanaged and scrutinised.

Cons

Its actually really hard for me to think of anything... I would say workloads can be high, but that's agency life. People never leave, so limited progression... but its a company of 20 people where people love working... so to be expected,
