Pros

There is a great company culture. It's casual, there are great perks (tons of networking opportunities and lots of free food), and opportunity to learn if you know how to advocate for yourself.

Cons

Because it's a startup, things can be chaotic and interns can be put on the back burner. You have to be a self starter and willing to make work for yourself, because the team does not have the time to oversee or manage your projects. It's really easy to sit around doing nothing all day if you don't ask for projects. Also, as an intern, expect to do a lot of busy work and a decent amount of traditional "intern duties" (ordering food, data entry, working at the front desk to greet guests, etc.)

Pros

Like any start-up, 1776 asks a lot of it's employees...multiple #1 priorities, doing more with less, shifting timeframes, donning many hats, etc... To their credit, the 1776 team has risen to the challenge and created a vibrant, relevant and successful company. To management's credit, the team is treated with the utmost respect and is given the autonomy to make the critical decisions necessary to achieve their objectives. In addition I have been impressed with the grace, appreciation, good will and support that management has shown to team members who make the decision to pursue other interests when their time with the company comes to a close. This culture of loyalty to current and former employees fosters a sense of security and inspires commitment to the company's long term success. I am honored to play a small role in that pursuit.

Cons

Like any start-up, 1776 asks a lot of it's employees...multiple #1 priorities, doing more with less, shifting timeframes, donning many hats, etc... ; )
