Pros

There are a few very down-to-earth, sweet people working at ECI, however, they're the ones at the bottom of the totem pole and are the ones taken for granted. They do partake in charities, too, which is about the only nice thing that goes on there.

Cons

The owner. The executive team. Management as a whole is horrendous. There is no communication at all between what the owner wants, to what the executive team wants, to what management wants, to what everyone else is supposed to be doing. Oh, and what's their corporate culture? Misogyny. The women are not treated very well at all, with an extreme lack of respect from the males (particularly the owner). Speaking of the owner, he/she is a huge micro-manager and treats the employees like robots. You are expected to sit at your desk and stare at your screen all day, and any "funny business" as they call it, isn't tolerated. Oh, and don't hang your coats on the back of your chair...the owner will throw a fit. Also, no sweatshirts and/or hoodies...even if it's -20 degrees in the dead of winter, you are expected to deal with the cold. Employees are not paid their worth. They say they allow overtime, but find excuses not to grant it. Moral is awful...It's really just a disaster waiting to happen at this company.

Pros

ECI has so much potential to be a great company. Most of the employees are some of the nicest people I've ever met, and I made great friendships throughout my time there.

Cons

Management at ECI is pathetic, to say the least. It's like a fraternity wherein the entire executive team are power-hungry men. Most of them have been there for years, therefore the "bromance" relationship a lot of them have developed trumps any and all qualifications for certain promotions. This inevitably leads to a management team that have absolutely no idea what they're doing...and it shows. Not only are the management team's abilities less-than-stellar, their attitude towards their employees is even worse. "Not happy? Have constructive criticism? Well, you can leave" is essentially their response to legitimate concerns employees have expressed. If you have an opinion that differs from management's, you'd better be prepared to be dubbed as "negative". Don't bother going to Human Resources with a problem, either. They're in the owner's back pocket and only have the management team’s interests at heart.

Pros

I truly enjoyed building strong relationships with customer, vendors, and with coworkers. There a few wonderful people who have not yet quit or been fired.

Cons

Overall, I would say that the workplace environment is an environment of fear and blame. With little to no support or guidance from management, employees are afraid for their jobs, which causes people to blame one another to avoid fault being placed on them. I was not trained on my particular responsibilities. I was shown the bare-bones basics of using various systems, but was mostly left to figure things out on my own in regards to my specific duties, as no one in my department had ever done them before. I expected to be eligible for cross-departmental training, as that was presented to me in my interview, but that was never an option. Working with one long-time supervisor presented several pointed issues. I found his management style to be detached at best and aggressive at worst. When I brought some specific grievances (extremely aggressive treatment from this supervisor) to management, my concerns were met with explanations and justifications. This is just one example of the overall lack of regard for the appropriate treatment and well-being of employees, which is ultimately what led me to leave the company. The lack of communication from management was the most difficult aspect of working here. Having no idea what was happening with the company, what was expected of me, where my future was headed, or how well I was performing was a consistent issue. I would describe the management style of the organization overall as judgmental, detached, and unappreciative. ECI is a revolving door. Employees quit and were fired at an average of 2.5 per month during my time there. New employees would be hired and thrown into their roles with grossly inadequate training, often leading them to quickly seek employment elsewhere. To my knowledge, the majority of the hard-working, dedicated employees who shoulder most of the weight of the company, have left or been fired.
