Pros

ETQ has a good customer base.

Cons

Our flagship product is old and tired. The web part was overhauled in the beginning of the year but the Java code remains the same and there is one word for that code - spaghetti. Everyone is trying to get everyone to work together but there are so many mixed messages that none of us engineers know to whom to listen or what to believe. The "majority are already in the Cloud" rebuttal is misleading at best. When a Cloud provider is used to replace hardware, that move is nothing more than hosting. The "moving them to new technology quickly but carefully" quote also misleads engineers and customers alike. For engineers, the new technology is limited to a select few and this "new" technology is only new to the company not to an experienced engineer. For customers, few, if any, customers will see these "new" technologies anytime soon - before 2021 possibly but that date is optimistic. Most engineers are doing maintenance work on a 20 year old product. There is nothing to learn while at ETQ that will be useful to learn for a job after ETQ. If you are a good engineer, do you and your career a favor and pass on ETQ.

Responding on behalf of Morgan Palmer, CTO @ ETQ. “Our modernization program involves a migration from legacy to future technology, overhauling the product in stages while simultaneously releasing new features and supporting our customers as they continue moving to the Cloud. Such a multi-faceted technical initiative may not be for everyone, but for team members that embrace these challenges, you have the opportunity to be part of a transformative legacy-to-SaaS project, gaining valuable skills that will be widely needed in the marketplace for many years to come. We invite you to discuss your role and career path with your manager, as we are in the evolution of ETQ and working to implement professional development and career paths as part our commitment to developing people.”

Pros

This company doesnt really have any pro's. All the good reviews are fake reviews written by HR or other obedient disciples of sr. management or by those with no self-esteem. The only pro I would add is holiday party with open bar where everyone likes to get drunk, not feel the pain of working in this company and smile.

Cons

The cons are a mile long but here are few: 1. ZERO work-life balance: Everyone in services department ends up work minimum of 12 hours a day with few working till midnight. 2. Management only cares for utilization: Management has been pushing for certain amount of utilization which is not practical for 95% of the employees, rest 5% achieve while working on projects in Europe and become the star of services team. Due to this every employee ends up losing yearly bonus which has been a joke for last few years. 3. Bad salary: Janitor of the building where headquarter is located has a better annual income than Implementation consultants(IC) even after working less hours. Management comes up with a bluff of a plan once in a while to increase salary to market rate but it never happens. Everyone in our department is paid a salary from 80's with promotion plan as a joke and annual salary hike which would only makes us ashamed of yourself. 4. Yearly bonus- Management makes you work hard throughout the year on a promise of 10% annual performance bonus but ends up paying no more than half of it because they are bunch of thief's and like to steal from its own employees. 5. High turnover- In just one year 10+ Tech IC’s/IC’s and 4 Sr.IC’s have left EtQ. This has become a trend and talented people who had been here for 5+ years are leaving after being sick and tired of work culture at EtQ. 6. No respect for employees or their ideas- Individual views don’t matter at EtQ. Voices and concerns are heard, plans are made but no action is ever taken. Owners of this company are talented orators who cannot walk the talk. Not even a single services employee has any motivation left to work in this company and aggressively looking for better job opportunities.

Thanks for providing feedback. I’d like to address some of your concerns. Although we do measure utilization rates of our professional services group, we also believe the company goal of 55% utilization provides flexibility to maintain a work-life balance. I’m happy to share that every eligible member of our Professional Services group received 80% or higher of their MBO bonus payout last year. In fact 75% of all non-management employees received 90-100% of their potential bonus. Concerning salary, staying in line with the market is of the utmost importance to us too. Every year we run an independent salary analysis for our professional services team and any member we find to be making lower than fair market compensation is pro-actively given an adjustment. I assure you, this is no bluff. We’ve done this as recently as October of 2015. If you feel this hasn’t happened in your case, or we missed something, I would urge you to reach out to your direct manager and let them know your concern. EtQ provides our professional service team members the opportunity to grow into a business analyst role much quicker than most other companies. EtQ does put team members in a position to receive very compelling offers from some of the world’s largest technology firms, and this does lead to some turnover. We hire some exceptionally talented and smart people and we would love for all of them to continue to grow their careers within our organization. The reality is that even though our business growth is exceptional and that growth provides for tremendous growth opportunities for our team members, there are going to be circumstances where it just makes sense for an individual to take on a new outside opportunity. Although this can at times present some business challenges, we take a lot of pride in keeping in touch with our tremendous alumni and enjoy observing their successes, be it here or elsewhere. We are truly grateful for the people that have helped make EtQ the company that it is today and if we’ve been a small part in helping those individuals find long term success in their careers it’s truly a win-win. As I stated earlier, I do appreciate you taking the time to provide feedback. If you wish to discuss any of these issues, or any other potential concerns under the same anonymity as this site, with my personal promise of no negative employment repercussions, please feel free to reach out to me directly or stop by my office and see me at any time.

STAY AWAY

Pros

After the acquisition, nothing is left that deserves staying.

Cons

- A company that lets employees go, and then asks them to sign a non-compete that includes both competitors and customers as condition to give them their severance (according to the country laws), is a company that does not deserve to be on this planet. - A company that promises all engineers in a specific country with an exit bonus program just to get around a difficult situation, and then avoid execution when the situation gets better, is a company that should not exist. STAY AWAY!!
