1. They say your hourly wage will be £10+ due to tips, the reality is they give the management all tips and you get minimum wage and if your lucky £20 in tips. (Eg. Peak time in December, work 40+ hours, get paid £8ph and get £50 in tips) this is nothing when you’re waiting tables and seeing how many £1000s worth of service charge is going to the company, in December they would take in £2k in tips per day and the staff get a nice £50 each a week? Doesn’t add up! Since leaving, I have found out the management get paid £40+k and a lot of it is made up from service charge.
2. Every week underpaid!!! GM gets annoyed when you question it saying you’re being petty for questioning 3 less hours pay per week, but when you’re on minimum wage in London and working really hard it is important to feel valued and be paid right. At the end of the day, who is serving arsey pervy business men all day just for the fun?!
3. Working until 3-4am
4. You’ll do your back in rearranging the tables and chairs 5x a day for all the different bookings!
5. The meals they provide for a 14 hour shift are all greasy, cheap and never healthy. The chefs get a very small budget for staff meals and there’s rarely enough for everyone.
6. Founder of the company rude and doesn’t care for well being of staff, although treats management well. Same for all the head office team.
7. GM a bully and can’t even carry 3 plates! Assistant manager the only one who knows what’s going on and helps out during busy service!
8. They’ll cut your hours to less than 20 per week if they don’t need you, they just send you home if it’s quiet and you’ll hardly ever get the choice to stay as they want to save on labour!
Trust me, you can get a much better and well paid waitress or bar job in London!! Don’t work here!
