Pros

- Build Relationships with children - Can Teach without having to take the CBEST or CSET - work with infants- pre-k -Always gives you your 10 minute breaks -Holidays off -12 kids to 1 teacher ratio -M - F schedule -8 hours per day (1 hour lunch) -Benefits

Cons

-Pay is AWFUL for all requirements listed below… - No support from Administrators (Principal & Assistant Principal) - make you feel bad for calling out when sick, condescending, not helpful even though they gaslight you into thinking they constantly provide support ) - Lead teacher gets paid more even though assistant teacher does same amount of work. Assistant teacher does NOT get compensated as lead teacher salary when lead teacher calls out. - HIGH expectations (lesson plan- has to follow links they don’t train you on, change shelf work every week, change boards every month, update childrens folders, take pictures of children add descriptions then send out every day, log in what they eat every day) - Hours are until 6pm - On feet for 8 hours - NEVER change out toys. Poor kids are bored with same toys all year long. No variety. -No prep time, have to ask for prep time 1 week in advance (ONLY 1 hour p/ day @ nap time) (No time to print out things because of ratio) (Not allowed to be on laptops around children to get prep done) -No worksheets (have to make ALL activities by hand) (No given resources) -No technology usage (No movies during rainy days, No informative videos are allowed to be shown to kids) (Laptops & IPADS are out of date) (No personal laptops, shared amongst all teachers) - No training - Not suited for special needs children. They give no training on how to work with special needs students as well as give them special resources to help their needs. - Some children are very aggressive and principal and assistant principal do not help you when you get spit and slapped in the face) -Corporation is all about the money and does not care about the children and staff

Pros

Children are the only pros. Love all of them!

Cons

No appreciation.. too much work and definitely not enough pay. Not enough staff so teachers have to work in other classrooms too. Not mentioned in the job descriptions. Management needs to be more considerate and appreciative. Absolutely no hope for growth.
