Pros

The working environment is what you make of it, I was lucky to work with some great colleagues, french wasn't extremely necessary, a plus if you can't be bothered with it. You will be relieved when you leave but working at meero will open doors for you if you play your cards right. This is mainly due to the aggressive branding that they have going on for themselves.

Cons

You might end up with condescending managers, people who are really good with numbers but unfortunately not good with people, let alone people from different cultures than their own. Speaking of culture, there is a culture of lying, omission and tricking (employees, clients, photographers, whatever gets the job done). As an employee, you are not paid to think, your input is not valued. They have hired "experienced managers" for that. If you are at the bottom of the food chain, you pay for your superiors mistakes always. Your chances of progressing within the company are really slim if you are not French. If you need a visa to stay in France, you are not in a position of power and they will strongarm you and string you along on the promise of a permanent contract. Human resources is a nightmare, you can never get the information you need and are usually told to seek out third parties when actually, it is part of their job description. This is with the exception of the hiring manager who is a decent person. The salary most of the time is not in accordance with what you have to do and what is expected of you. Essentially the pay is a joke. Working hours are also a joke. Mainly because it is frowned upon to leave on time, and yet extra hours are not remunerated appropriately as they should.

We are sorry that your experience did not happened as you could have wished. The whole management team works every day to improve the way we support our employees. Many things have already been established in that sense: all staff meetings with Q&A, management reviews, performance reviews, and even salary reviews. We understand that not everybody is satisfied with their salaries, that is why we are completely transparent about it during the recruitment process, as well as job tasks. The management team (human resources in particular) also remains available to support employees in their administrative procedures and questions. That is an absolute priority for us.

Pros

Good location (Paris Office), international team.

Cons

Sexual and moral harassment, drugs and alcohol (as a manager loves saying it "if you wanna follow a career path at meero, you need to be part of our "parties"), no opportunity of growth, non paid extra hours, salaries are low. The company is rotten on its core. They also fake business results and reviews (you can find plenty here on Glassdoor) to fool investors and future employees. It's a company that created hype over it, they are very good at marketing themselves - but the reality is completely different. Of course, if your dream job is to work for a company like The Wolf of Wall Street - go for it! It will come true at meero.

Pros

Start-up experience for graduates. Close to home if you live in the city.

Cons

This company is a complete scam. To begin with, the employees are not familiarized with photography or the technology behind. They run an unethical business and it's beginning to get worse. One of our best employee's recently left and managements has not handled it professionally. A lot of people are leaving left and right. For the longest they refused to have an HR department (in which I'm sure we won't have anytime soon). They have Talent acquisition and Office Management act as HR employees. These individuals rather spent their time building relationships in the office and can't be trusted to handle sensitive issues. It's become a fraternity house. Employee's are playing beer pong every other week inside the office. This is a company in which I cannot wait to leave. Please save yourselves the trouble and find a company that is REPUTABLE and that values employees. My advice to the company is to dissolve the NYC office and start from scratch with brand new and dedicated management.

Thank you for taking the time to leave this very detailed feedback. We will do our best to address your concerns here, and we will use this feedback to improve our office for all of our employees. We do not require our employees to have expertise in photography, with the exception of some of our delivery teams. We do have a new-hire training to teach all of our employees the basics of photography and the technology so that they have some working knowledge. When it comes to off-boarding employees who are leaving, we do our best to make it as positive an experience as possible for both the employee leaving and the rest of the office. Sometimes things happen quickly, and we don’t have the time we’d like to make a smooth transition. We are currently working to streamline both our on-boarding and off-boarding processes and are hopeful this will improve transitions. Our New York office is fairly new, so we have had the Office Manager and Talent Team handle some aspects of HR, such as on-boarding, but for their main roles, it is important for them to build relationships in the office. However we are currently working on a few key hires to help us strengthen our HR processes. We have a company-sponsored Happy Hour every other week after our office all-hands meetings where we do have employees playing games such as beer pong. These events are always after company hours and completely optional. We do this to give employees a chance to unwind and spend time getting to know each other. It is meant to be inclusive and fun, and we are sorry that you feel it isn’t. This is something we will work on improving. We hope that, as a current employee, you will start to see some of the above changes which will contribute to an overall better experience for you. If you do choose to leave Meero, we wish you the best of luck in the next chapter of your career. Regardless, we appreciate you taking the time to provide your valuable feedback.
