Pros

Dematic's industry is booming, our technology helps companies like Amazon, Frito-Lay, Walmart to get things done. It is really amazing to see all the pieces of a warehouse working, the conveyors, the sorters, the AGVs, the multi-shuttles, etc. If you like technology and innovation this is the place to be. People are nice and easy-going. It is a fast-paced environment and you never get bored.

Cons

This company is not perfect (which one is it?), it suffers from the same fast-paced environment we live in. Since we need to get things done, sometimes we don't see areas of improvement or ways of streamlining processes. The age of the population is mixed, which is good but also sometimes doesn't help, you may find young colleagues that want to conquer the world with bright ideas and, on the other hand a guy that has been with the company for 30+ years and is ready for retirement, hence new things take time to digest. This is sometimes frustrating. There are really great leaders and others that just got promoted because of time served, you know, old school. You have to be patient.

Horrible CEO along with his Executives/Buddies

Pros

Our paychecks are not bouncing, yet! That is about the best thing I can really say about Dematic NA right now. Long Live Rapistan Systems!

Cons

Ulf Henriksson and the executives/buddies that he brought in with him have been the worst thing to happen to us in the 15 years that I have been employed by Dematic. In 3 years time they have managed to take us from the industry's "go to when you absolutely need the best in record time" conveyor company. To the "we can't make a schedule date (on the third commitment) or even make our rollers that won't fall out after less than 100hrs run time (yes, literally come apart and fall out)" conveyor company. For the first time ever, I find it embarrassing to tell anyone in the industry that I am a Dematic employee. Many of us (if not all) of us long term employees that worked to make Dematic the great company that it "was". Are very sad to see it crumbling like it is, as our customer leave for Intellegrated. We are not crumbling because the industry is slow (the only thing us old timers thought would get us), we are crumbling because an incompetent CEO and his buddies have done what looks like intentionally force extremely poor management decisions and ideas in to place to cause the demise of Dematic, as if that were their goal. It's hard to believe that anyone one in a position like CEO could not see how they setting this once great company up for total failure!

Pros

- Good People - Health Benefits - Comp Time - Flexible Hours - Cost of Living / Compensation for the Area is great (Negotiate up!) - Lots of Travel (If that is appealing to you)

Cons

- Cafeteria food is unhealthy and overpriced - Leeches, employees that do not contribute and still obtain bonuses. Its almost impossible to get fired - Extensive Travel (130 nights in hotels last year) for most engineering and project management positions - Long hours on site, estimated avg of 14 - 15 hrs per day (Weekend cut-ins sometimes exceed 24hr days) - Straight pay overtime policy (No time and a half or double time) - If accumulating OT, must donate 10 hours per bi-weekly pay period (I've donated tens of thousands in OT) - Holiday pay is hours worked + 8 hours, Not truly double time. Do NOT offer to work Holidays! - Live to Work Mentality - "I worked hard to get where I am, sacrificing the relationships with my friends and family; my family resents me for it" - Manager - Working hard and getting ahead means sacrificing the relationships with your friends and family, some managers believe this to be true and expect it of employees looking to get a head. Its the way they earned their stripes and think its the only way - Giant generational / cultural gap, Dematic needs to reform its company culture - Top heavy management - Cutting costs in the wrong way which further decreases morale; instead forcing the upper management (the ones who are responsible for the supply chain crisis) into resignation. Their salaries + bonuses should wax and wane with the rise and fall of company profits. Take responsibility for your actions or lack there of. Shame to those who protect and allow such incompetency.
