Pros

- Everyone is nice, young and fun to be around but that’s typical of all ad agencies. - Good for exposure in social media marketing.

Cons

- Burn out is inevitable, a lack of work-life balance is tacitly expected. - Nepotism is an issue, particularly in the higher management. People in top level position should have years of prior relevant experience, without any exceptions. Otherwise, it is not only unfair, but also affects work, as executives cannot trust or rely on their own team leader. - The company could also do with more transparency and honesty, both internally and externally. The company’s values are not clear and inconsistent. - Upper management seem to be receptive to feedback, but in actuality may not believe what one says or always only pays lip service. Promises not kept.

Pros

I guess decent work life balance compared to other agencies???

Cons

My time at DSTNCT was a bit challenging due to some issues. The processes weren’t clearly defined, which made things feel really messy and unorganized. On top of that, Account roles were expected to do copywriting too, which didn’t make sense since we’re supposed to focus on pitching, strategy, and client communication. Copywriters exist for a reason, and it felt like we were doing two jobs without getting fairly compensated for it. Another problem was the constant smoke breaks, which really slowed down productivity because people weren’t getting enough done. Also, upper management seemed pretty disconnected from what was going on at the ground level. They often thought they were doing something innovative, but in reality, it didn’t really address the actual problems.
