Pros

DS-IQ's greatest strength is its people working there. Many of the employees have 20+ years of experience, and a frequent refrain was that DS-IQ is the best company they have worked for. I greatly appreciated the unending opportunities to learn from others and grow my own skills and experience, and all of my superiors were generous and supportive of my own personal growth.

Cons

This was not a con for me, but DS-IQ is certainly in the growth phase and is tackling challenging and engaging engineering problems head-on. DS-IQ is a place to keep learning new technologies and stay sharp by conforming to best engineering practices.

DS-IQ Response

We were pleased to read that you agree DS-IQ is comprised of exceptionally nice people. We do hire for that trait and work hard to foster the kind of team work that is mutually supportive. This is likely one of the reasons our average tenure is longer than typical for the Seattle tech community. Our 1st hired engineers are still here after ten years and making an outstanding contribution in leadership roles. As an ex-employee, however, you don’t appear to be current with DS-IQ’s business. Our largest customer – the largest retailer in the world – gets a lot of public attention, which sometimes steals the thunder of our other customers. We are actively engaged with other customers in the retail and financial services sectors and we are excited about additional growth on the horizon for 2015. Since retail is a highly competitive industry, and because DS-IQ’s work often involves confidential data and first-of-their-kind marketing initiatives, we are definitely conservative about sharing information publically. We expect this approach will continue to be a hallmark of DS-IQ’s business relationship with our customers.

Pros

I have worked in several companies in my career. This company is definitely the best. It is well run--businesslike but very human. As a developer, there are a lot of opportunities to work with latest open source and MS technologies including "big data" and Hadoop. Company's business is inventing and building out advanced marketing solutions for large retail chains. Leaders express clear vision and also give a lot of flexibility and empowerment to workers to solve problems in creative and resourceful ways and to contribute to that vision.

Cons

Work areas can be noisy at times; headphones helpful.
