Pros

Funny and generally chill part-time colleagues there. Canteen food is cheap. that's literally about all the pros.

Cons

WHY is this important? Because you may likely be handling high-price products like iPhones etc. Should you be deemed to have mishandled or damaged the product or affected the sales pipeline or whatever, you may be held financially liable for the 'damages' they bring to you. And that's where a deduction could come in, and it might be large. THIS IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO NOTE, as the Employment Act protects you from a business making too large a deduction and the law caps deductions caused by damages caused by employees. BUT YOU ARE NOT AN EMPLOYEE. So, DND/ CPO/ Mirae Distributions (wtv name they are operating under now) can refer to your contract and show you, IF THEY ADDED THE CLAUSE (again, not saying they WILL, just saying they might have or might have not), that whatever deductions they make are legal. Since you are a freelancer, the contract, and not the employment act, will apply to you. LAST WORDS: I have done some internet sleuthing on this company's activities. They are a reverse-logistics focused company, focusing on mobile devices. They may have operations in Europe, and they may be in the Netherlands. Some comments regarding their business operations in Europe / outside Singapore, suggest that they are also operating unethically and having salary issues with workers there as well. I am unable to confirm these allegations. I am merely highlighting their existence. Do your own due diligence. I wish to state that I am not making any claim that they have done anything illegal. Nor am I claiming that they have any specific clauses or terms. I am simply here to inform anyone who is looking to join, to PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE DETAILS OF THE CONTRACT. When I joined, it was listed as PART-TIME. NOT CONTRACT work. That is an EXTREMELY important distinction, as the above discussion has shown. PART-TIME employee is still an EMPLOYEE, NOT FREELANCER. PLEASE TAKE CARE TO READ THE TERMS CAREFULLY THANK YOU. Typing all this out is, in my opinion, an obligation as a responsible fellow citizen and worker. I strongly believe in the importance of dignified labour. My experience there fell short of my expectations for the basic treatment and respect that a workplace should offer to its employees. Genuinely. People depend on their salaries coming in on time, to make ends meet. Bills don't wait. And yet, this company's boss, chew xin yun standard ch artered has made it very clear through his abrasive language and interactions with employees on telegram that he is fine with having salary-payment issues as he can 'buy more stocks' on his brokerage account. Disgraceful and Pathetic. People are trying to make enough money to feed their families, and this guy thinks it is some joke. Get a grip. To 'the boss', chew xin yun standard chart ered if you are reading this, just know that your power-trips and toxic chat conduct with the freelancers are on record and screenshots. The repeated issues with salary payments are also on record. You WILL be held accountable, and that is not a matter of IF, but WHEN. Shame on you.
