Pros

My experience with Cover Desk gave me exposure to international clients and real-world virtual assistant tasks, which helped me improve my communication and administrative skills. The workflow for handling clients is structured, and for beginners who want to enter the VA industry, it can serve as a starting point to gain experience and understand how the process works.

Cons

However, my overall experience left me deeply disappointed. The role was office-based, which did not align with the common expectation of a “Virtual Assistant” setup. There was also an inconsistency between recruitment and HR policies. I was informed later that working students are not allowed, despite the fact that my status as a working student was clearly indicated in my resume during the hiring process. This created confusion and felt unfair. During the termination process, I experienced limited transparency. After submitting my explanation for the Notice to Explain (NTE), I was informed of my termination only two days later, which made me question whether my response was thoroughly reviewed and carefully considered. There were also communication gaps regarding my final pay and bond-related concerns, including a lack of acknowledgment when I respectfully requested consideration due to my financial situation as a student. What made the situation more difficult was the lack of empathy and professional support from my immediate supervisor during such a serious matter. While I understand that management decisions must be upheld, employees going through termination deserve clarity, fairness, and compassion.
