Pros

You get to meet a lot of great people- the students are fun and interesting and the teachers are nice. Sometimes, it truly felt like a family there.

Cons

You are overworked with little to no benefits and you are severely underpaid for your position in the field, but as the owner says you are doing it because you love it- not for the money. Sure. The boss goes to the gym and has lunch meetings nearly everyday leaving you to run the company, this is if they are not taking the month off to travel. Since it is a small school and very few people work in administration, this makes taking a break difficult because if you go for lunch, the front office will be empty and the teachers will have to try to cover for you if someone walks in while they are teaching a class. You are expected to answer any call on your day off- if you do not you will be reprimanded for not answering. Even if you're sick and can't function properly- you're supposed to answer. You are absolutely expected to work on your days off or work extra hours sans pay. You will have the work that maybe three people take on normally. Get used to it and do it all on time. If you tell the owner you're stressed from work and you need help- you won't get the help, but they will make you feel bad that you can't do everything and tell you, "I hired you because I thought you could handle this job. Can you not handle this job?" And once you finally get behind on work because you have so much to do- they get upset with you and ask "why didn't you tell me sooner?" It's a lose-lose situation. The training is little to none because everyone is so busy with all the work they already have to do and the boss is absent. You will have to figure it out and make a lot of mistakes. The owner wants to retire and wants you to help run his company. Don't do it. You will feel like you have a better support system somewhere else. Plus, you'll make more money and have healthcare. Imagine that.

Not a great place to work.

Pros

The staff is amazing. They are very warm, personable, and will bend over backwards to help anyone. If you didn't take on any extra responsibilities, it used to be a great place to work. The students are great and they love the staff.

Cons

The owner no longer cares about the company, spends little time there, doesn't understand the business, and expects his small and underpaid staff to do everything. He also expects employees to work off the clock. You will be putting in full-time hours (sometimes more), and have no benefits. The low hourly pay is significantly lower when outside hours are factored in. The entire staff is completely unhappy and resentful. When someone tries to go to bat for them, the employees are then cornered and put on the spot Both employees and students are nickel and dimed. Even though you are off the clock, finding time to eat is a rarity. Lastly, the owner even posted a fake review from one current employee. Reading the "review" it is obvious that he didn't understand the purpose of the site. The review read more like, "what can I do to be a better employee?" Beyond the pale.

Pros

Lay-Back environment. Great co-workers and fun place to work in.

Cons

The owner does not care about the business. Does not hire enough employees and wants the few employees he has do all the work for him. On top of that he does not trust employees
