Dig Below The Surface for the Real CG

Pros

On the surface, their culture is great but there's a lot more under the surface than you realize.

Cons

CG is ok if you're in the Accounting Advisory or NetSuite implementation services. All other service lines are weak with very little growth opportunities. That said, you will not experience a lot of professional growth in Accounting Advisory or NetSuite, especially if you're in upper management. As a lower grade employee, you'll gain some knowledge but it will tap out after a few client engagements as every project is similar from the last. CG is not very good at expanding their capabilities or service offerings. Beware if they are recruiting you into a practice they are trying to grow because they're not very good at expansion. This applies to their ability to deliver, the lack of tools and methodologies, and even more importantly, the lack of their Business Development team to identify, qualify, and sell a deal in anything new. Regarding culture - Yes, on the surface it's great but be aware that the long-term employees tend to be "informants" to the top leadership. If you attend the annual retreat, the top leadership will be sizing you up to see if your "family values" align with theirs. Other Cons - The head of Business Development is somewhat slimy and verges on the unethical. The HR department is a mess, and the lead for Digital Solutions is over her head. The NetSuite practice is well-known for layoffs because they don't know how to manage through the highs and lows.

Pros

Colleagues were the best part of working here, a lot of nice people to work with

Cons

Working on the operations team is a very different experience than working as a consultant on the client-facing side. The operations team is not valued or invested in by management as they do not generate revenue for the firm. Pay is extremely low for the area and industry, there are no opportunities for professional development, and very little opportunity for career advancement. As a result, there is huge turnover within operations.
