Pros

Meaningful work engaging with organisations doing great work.

Cons

Senior management lack compassion and creative thinking. Action around equity and inclusion are perfunctory and often tokenistic. Witnessed a few racially insensitive comments and actions from managers.

Pros

Flexi time and good holiday entitlement

Cons

This ‘charity’ and its senior management espwcially ceo don’t care at all for the people or communities they serve just their own image. Any rumblings from staff quickly shut loop down and a policy shoved down employees throat to tell them otherwise to what they see around them. Policies only apply when helpful to senior managment not serious safeguaridng of frontline staff. To which senior managment run a mile from as doesnt look good to get there hands too dirty.

Pros

Flexi time and good holiday entitlement

Cons

Being a charity, you would expect that the culture would be supportive and understanding. This is not the case and the charity does not align with the values it preaches, this is apparent from the top senior management down and many policies are simply box ticking exercises. A lot of the employees work out in the community as well as from home, so the office is often empty with sometimes only 2/3 people in on some days. This is terrible for morale and creates divides across teams to the extent where some workers don’t even know each others names and have never spoken to them. There are apparent ‘mental health first aiders’ however when people clearly required the support of these people (myself included), they were nowhere to be seen. Personally i believe if you are going to take on this role, you should be proactively reaching out to the people who will need your support rather than waiting for them to come to you. Training is practically non existent and there is no heirachy in terms of who to go to if you require help with specific parts of your job.
