Pros
Initial introduction was fantastic. They presented a great plan to reform our local agency. Consultants were great at training on family advocate-related forms and procedures.
Cons
As for middle management, they provided me with scant training. Consultants changed every few months, and brought with them a complete overhaul of how to do my job. After 4 changes, I basically gave up trying to master my duties. I just couldn't manage the chaotic inconsistency, constantly changing priorities/expectations. However, the most damning thing was how my supervisor treated me and the people under me. From day one, I was told how incompetent and manipulating my staff was going to be. However, it turned out to be a lie. My staff was fantastic, and tolerated so much contempt and lies from my supervisor. I soon found myself standing between my supervisor and my staff. The pay was terrible. In fact, our agency was the lowest paid HS agency in the country. We constantly lost staff to neighboring agencies who paid a few dollars more. Finally, the most personal affront I experienced is a complete lack of acknowledgement from my supervisor. For 2 years, neither me or myself received a moment of acknowledgement. In short, run away. You may be swayed by the professional introduction, but rest assured, you will be disappointed. You will join the ranks of those who were mistreated and ignored.
