Pros

- You will make some of the best friends of your life. Although management is completely unsatisfactory, a majority of the more junior recruiters (aka fresh grads) that they hire are hard-working, kind, smart, generous people, and you will grow to love them. Misery does love company, after all. - Although there's no formal training in place, if you're able to get the hang of things and be even somewhat successful at recruiting, you'll put yourself in a good position to be marketable for other recruiting (or similar) positions elsewhere - Some pretty cool perks like free tickets and transportation (party bus!) to BottleRock in Napa, time off in between Xmas and New Years, and happy hours that start at 4:00pm every Friday (some of which are offsite, which can be really fun!) - If you get lucky and are put on a good account, you'll have the chance to make a decent amount of money in commission. Nothing crazy, but a decent amount.

Cons

- I'd like to reiterate, most of the positive reviews on here are fake and/or unreliable. Even the select few people who are able to last at Coit for years as opposed to mere months have very poor things to say about the company, specifically management. - There is a complete lack of respect coming from management. They are publicly demeaning, condescending, and irreverent to employees, and to clients. - No formal training or onboarding process. The only way you'll get any training is from other employees who are kind enough to help you out. Not only that, but management expects you to excel regardless of your lack of training, and gets angry when you don't. - Very low pay. San Francisco is one of the most expensive cities in the world, but that doesn't stop Coit from low-balling fresh grads and making it so they barely scrape by. - Constant deception from management, starting in the interview. They'll say just about anything to get people they like to join the company, and the dishonesty doesn't stop once you're hired. They'll make a lot of promises to employees that they NEVER keep (i.e. guaranteeing that you'll make X amount of money in your first year, that they're going to start profit sharing, that you get unlimited PTO, etc.). - Which brings me to my next point. PTO is NOT unlimited, even though they tell you it is. They'll complain pretty much any time you ask for time off (be it for a doc appt, a long weekend - anything). - They are not receptive to any kind of feedback from employees. One CEO will at least take the time to listen to what you have to say, but never actually act on it. - They don't tell you this up front, but there's a high chance you will have to work "onsite" at your client's office (as opposed to Coit's), and that could be ANYWHERE in the Bay Area. Several people commute from SF to Redwood City, Palo Alto, Sunnyvale, etc. because they're required by management to be onsite every day.

Pros

Great friends, we made it through together, if you get what I mean. Occasionally there are great perks, yacht club trips, Bottlerock tickets, Friday Happy Hours. You have the potential to make a lot of money; if you stick it out for years and become the #1 top recruiter. Good introduction to the sales world; helpful if you have no experience, which no one at Coit has. The recruiters who have stuck it out, have great jobs now.

Cons

Do not trust these reviews. Read for yourself. No structured training to young graduates. You're thrown in the trenches and then punished for you're lack of knowledge. Management is so blind to their own misgivings and don't hear or acknowledge feedback. Micromanagement to the EXTREME. Must report to matrix every day, must make cold calls from 5-6, must get appointments "approved" (good luck), must be at work 9-6, must take exactly 1 hour lunch at 12. Management speaks openly and very poorly about employees. Not to mention to clients as well. Extremely high turnover. Most "senior" employees are barely scraping by at a year. Values are laughable, the only values this place perpetuates is money. Unlimited PTO? Forget about it. They don't approve doctor appointments, let alone a day off. Keep in mind, clients are all over the Bay Area and you may not be working in San Francisco.

Coit Group Response

Thank you for your feedback. We take this seriously as we have 18-year long track record of success and our people are fundamental to our company’s health. Our hours and best practices in management, training and oversight are core to the business and we strive every day to get better. When employees are on-boarded, we assign a Mentor and Manager. Everyone has their own style of management and each new employee requires differing levels of oversight. It's a combination of process and art. It is an area we are constantly looking at and working to improve on. We are currently looking at and reevaluating our PTO policy as since bringing a world class HRIS has given us data and tools to make this process consistent. The telephone remains one of the key methods of contact for recruiters and we are committed to using every tool possible to reach candidates. Telephone calls are a way of life in this business. In the multi-modal communication environment we live in today and by virtue that we are reaching out to mostly passive candidates and sometimes unresponsive hiring managers, we need to leverage phone, email, text and now AI to engage these people. Reaching out to people you don't know could be uncomfortable for some and this type of job is not for everyone. These activities are necessary for success. For the right person, this is a great launching pad for a career that can span decades or lead to something else that fits for them. The skills and training are valuable and transferable, your comment on some of the top recruiters that have left have done well… Yes, exactly, we couldn't agree more! Why? We have an amazing reputation among all the majors in tech for training some of the industry’s most productive professionals in Talent Acquisition. Our team helped develop their skill sets and experience to allow them to have continued success in their careers. It’s well-known spending 3-4 years at COIT gives you the clout of a 6-8 year professional. Simply put, we accelerate our employee’s careers. It’s unfortunate it didn't work out for you here at COIT. As always, feel free to connect with me directly. We wish you all the best in your career.

Pros

Provided some basic training to take to another firm so I could get a better job and learn more. The principals are weak recruiters.

Cons

Major turnover. Management doesn't care about anyone but themselves. All they care about is making money for themselves. Very high employee turnover
