Great employees, difficult work environment

Pros

There are some really great people at Cinco and the benefits are good. If you're a "bro" whose vernacular includes "dope" and "epic" and you don't mind stroking egos, you'll do fine here.

Cons

This is by far the worst working environment I've experienced. The closer you have to work with the CEO, the worse it is. I'm astounded by the number of positive reviews. There is one leader in this company and he is always right, always has the best ideas and is always the smartest person in the room. Those who get promotions and raises are the ones who are on board with that statement. Statistics speak for themselves. Ask about the employee turnover, how many leaders are new in their roles, how many leaders have left the company in the last two years, and how many org changes they've had.

Pros

Design comes first. Period. The clients and opportunities are great, and everyone is involved in making better work from those chances. They win most projects they encounter with a combination of genius, incisive decks, and affordability. People are close. People stick around. People look out for each other. The work doesn't get bogged down. There are now enough project managers and account people to create a real operation.

Cons

A certain important person is a handful. There has been a shift his/her role, but if you work on the project she/he is focused on you are in for indecision, never-good-enough mental gymnastics, and poor process. Many people actively make sure they aren't near his/her zone of influence, which isn't fair to the people who get caught over and over. Everything is taken way too seriously. It takes the joy out of the room. The studio isn't well prepared for interactive work. The studio isn't connected to the local community in the slightest.

Pros

Some great coworkers. Good culture outside of stressful projects. Interesting work, especially if you like the brands that you're working for. Fast paced environment grows talent quickly. Snacks and beverages employees.

Cons

Ego is a problem here, especially at the creative director level. Micromanagement happens frequently. Communication between creative directors and designers is severely lacking. Performance reviews are few and far between. Raises are minimal, if ever. Not a great work / life balance with frequent late nights. High stress environment.
