53% positive business outlook
Pros
Great people who know this business. First rate business tools and technology.
Cons
Not the place to be if you can only sell on price.
Pros
The people are great to work with.
Cons
Hub Group bought out Choptank, and they are not great to work for.
Pros
The environment in the office is good sometimes with some very genuine people who want to help you grow
Cons
People bring a lot of negativity to the workplace sometimes. Corporate Trainer plays favorites. Everyone wants to be the new kid's boss. People from different/same offices often fight over who's account is who's. The health insurance is outrageously expensive and off the wall. There is not much growth after joining this company. Overall, to a fresh graduate, my message is that there are plenty of better opportunities out there, don't sell yourself short here.
Pros
Just wanted to let everyone know that Choptank Transport is an awesome place to work. The training you receive is top notch. Awesome people & company. Choptank is always giving back to their employees & community. They treat their employees with fairness, respect, kindness and like family, and to me that makes such a big difference. Totally recommend anyone to join this amazing company.
Cons
I really can't think of any.
Pros
goodish benefits commission on top of salary give away things like free ice cream just about once a month loads of free lunches cant speak highly enough about the director of sales Lloyd Thomas (he was the only person to actually help me succeed, and actually wanted me to)
Cons
-the worst management ive ever encountered -no support -expected to be on call 24/7, 365 days -i feel like people only stay because of how well they pay people who have no college degree and otherwise would be servers struggling to make ends meet. -have heard its, "where servers go to die" -found that i only wanted to work with a few people when it came to sourcing trucks for my customers because I found most of them either cant handle their work load or just are incompetent. -a real "drink the kool aid" or die place -made me lie to customers all the time (despite hiring me because I am an honest person who cant lie) do i really need to keep going? I quit without notice because I couldnt mentally take another two weeks without serious mental breakdowns (i.e panic attacks, etc). I understand the allure, I fell for it as well. But trust us people who are not giving them 5 stars. We didnt drink the kool aid. We also didn't have someone in the company tell us to write a review to "boost" their star ratings....
Pros
Only good reason to work here is that they accept anyone and everyone so applying youll most likely get atleast an interview.
Cons
They do not put out their turnover rate because it is so high. They bring you in to train you for carrier sales even though you are an inside sales rep. The training only consists of you calling and maybe a 10 min powerpoint and like 4 days of calling. While the previous 3 weeks of training were spent on carrier sales training. They do not have any scripts to help you out but merely say to create your own so in reality their whole training is you training yourself through repetition. So hopefully you only repeat the good from the start. They claim to help you build your book of business but all that consist of is you calling people from others who have quit. So you are being fed what is mostly ungrowable accounts with the mere chance you will get one good one in a billion tries.
Pros
I enjoy the people I work with.
Cons
Management is terrible. Since HUB Group took over everything has changed and they don't care about the employees.
Pros
Great way to learn the work, when they let you
Cons
rampant unhealthy behaviors, instead of letting you grow, they throw work from other people and departments on you, if you get pregnant, they drive you to suicidal ideation
