The pay could be a lot better. In the area, similar positions pay a lot more.
This position is NOT remote. We have been told time and time again that they are willing to let us work from home, but each time we try to actually do it, it is shot down and we are left disappointed. Current we are waiting on approval for proper equipment to be able to work from home, but we are all anticipating disappointment again.
There is little opportunity for growth. With any small hospital, the folks in supervisor and management roles don't really leave and when they do, the company isost likely to recrute and higher an outside the company, rather than hight from within.
You would think working at a hospital comes with great benefits, but that is not the case. Our medical plan is subpar at best. CVMC does offer maternity leave, but it's unpaid, we must use our accrued vacation and sick time to be paid and at the rate sick and vacation time accrues, it would take 2-5 years to accrue enough time for the most frequent 8-12 weeks maternity leave.
There is no policy for mental health days and the decision is left to each manager.
Some policies, come out of the blue without concern of how the effected employees would feel. For instance, for the first 2 years I worked there, there was no tattoo policy but on the 3rd years, the board came up with a no tattoo policy. I tried to appeal to the board as I do not see patients, and it was denied. They were not concerned that it made me feel discriminated against.
