Pros

There are some great people who care deeply about the services we provide and are happy to help in any way they can to make customers or colleagues lives easier. Because they tend not to spend their time bigging themselves up, they are largely overlooked and ignored.

Cons

There are some members of the SMT whose arrogance and disdain for anyone 'beneath' them is an open secret. Yet, somewhow they are allowed to stay in post as leaders of a company that claims to value its employees. There are others whose sole aim in life appears to be to grow an empire and further themselves, not the company. They spend most meetings putting on a good show about how fantastic they are and trying to undermine others (with a smile). The net effect of this is that no one in the SMT is actually doing anything to make the business any better. They are too busy worrying about snipping at each other and power grabbing to put their egos aside and build a joined up company that delivers the service our customers are paying for. While they play these games, work is piling up, people are leaving but few are joining - recruitment freezes and the simple fact that no one seems to want to work here. The leavers grow by the day and I think we're on the brink of a cascade of people exiting. The CEO is either blind to this, doesn't care or this is the kind of business he wants to run. It's not clear which.

Apologies not to respond to your comments sooner. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us. We are very sorry to hear this about your experience and appreciate and value your input as an employee. Your comments touch on some of the challenges you feel have negatively impacted you and we agree that dealing with a pandemic, integrating three businesses, and being tasked with selling the business by our previous owners, over the past 18 months, has been a lot to take on. We are sorry that it has negatively impacted any of our colleagues and understand it has been a period of great change for us all. Now the sale is completed we believe we are beginning to make good progress and would encourage you to discuss your concerns with your manager or contact our HR department so we can work together and find a solution. Our intention is to make our company the best place you have ever worked. Thank you again for your insight. It helps us to build a better company for everyone.

Pros

There are very few. Still some good people and lingering remnants of the Novosco values

Cons

Novosco was a company based on ethics, of helping each other and doing what was best for the customer. Staff had no qualms about working late, chipping in to help and knew they were valued. That is long gone following the takeover by Cancom and the influx of staff from other companies in senior roles. Minimum effort for customers and a just get it done approach without care. Senior management think it’s all about sales figures, rear kissing and back patting among themselves. Unless you shout about how great you are don’t expect any gratitude or salary increase - never mind a bonus. Many staff effectively taking year on year pay cuts due to SMT’s belief in not paying inflation based salary increases as a minimum. When almost the whole HR team leave over 2 months, that’s a telling sign that things are bad

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we are sorry to hear about your experience when working here at CANCOM. Whilst we don't recognise some of your feedback, some of your comments touch on some of the challenges we have faced integrating three businesses whilst being tasked with selling the business by our previous owners, over the past 18 months. We know that it has been a period of great change for us all. Now the sale is completed we believe we are beginning to make good progress in building a better company for everyone. So, whilst your feedback won’t have a direct benefit for you as a former employee, it will have a positive impact on our current and future colleagues. We wish you all the best in your career.

Pros

There are some real stars in the company, you will notice that they are the ones always having work dumped on them by those who can't do their job.

Cons

Lack of communication between senior leadership and the rest of the business, the guise of an 'all hands' call is nothing but a 'look at me' opportunity for the SLT with no real information being provided. Lack of progression, you can force your way up through the business in one of two ways: threaten to quit or have a medical procedure performed on your tongue to allow it to reach the darkest depths. Performance is seldom acknowledged unless you are in sales and most definitely not rewarded beyond a laughable 2% yearly bonus. Lack of personal development, there are several systems in place to track appraisals, training, and other personal development goals, they are a great piece of engineering. That being said, management has no interest or time to carry out their part of the deal, leading to no personal development and the whole process moot. Compensation is well below the market rate. If you are looking to break into the sector, this is a great place to start, you won't get attached and you will likely receive offers of double your base rate within a year and having that experience on your CV. Requests for pay increases are grouped into that of the appraisals and personal development, never actioned and you are made to feel like you have requested to use the kitchen sink as a toilet at Windsor Castle. The company is constantly talking about profits in the all-hands calls, but seems to go silent when it comes to paying it forward. Management is far more concerned with PR opportunities and appearing in the newsfeed of LinkedIn than giving employees attention. If you are lucky enough to be in a semi-senior position- be prepared to never see, talk or have contact with your line manager. The "startup" and "collaborative" vibe which was present within the UK entities before 2020 is truly gone. I would like to make it clear that I'm not being bitter- I left on my own volition and the grass was indeed much greener or on the other side, I've just had enough of the false image being portrayed that it's a 'great place to work'. It used to be, it no longer is.

Apologies not to respond to your comments sooner. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us and we are very sorry to hear this about your experience. We value all of our current and former employee’s feedback, so that we can improve. Whilst we disagree with a great deal of your comments, some of your feedback relates to some of the challenges we have faced when integrating three businesses whilst being tasked with selling the business by our previous owners over the past 18 months - which has been a lot to take on as I'm sure you will appreciate. Now the sale is completed, I hope you feel assured that we're making good progress in building a better company for everyone. So, whilst your feedback won’t have a direct benefit for you as a former employee, it will have a positive impact on our current and future colleagues. We wish you all the best in your future career.
