Pros

They paid me market value although the commission wasn’t great

Cons

The culture was really toxic, there was always an atmosphere. You could tell there were favourites and those that were respected (or feared) by senior management and the rest of the people were disposable (or that’s the way it felt) I actually performed ok in the year that I was there but it wasn’t somewhere I would have ever stayed longer. I tried to push through but I was miserable. I note everywhere else I’ve ever worked I have loved

Pros

Earning Potential - Good level base salaries with a clear progression path to increase this based on performance/billings - No Threshold Comms with a flat percentage on all billings with an increasing Half Year bonus dependent on billings. - High performers club which entitles you to several additional benefits/incentives/reward schemes Working Culture - TBH it is very much a work hard play hard culture. It is a high performance/ high pressure sales environment but that is the nature of the industry. If you perform well you are rewarded well and tend to be ‘left alone’. If the Sales drop off then the KPI’s are increased but you are given support and every opportunity to improve performance/billings. - There is a real ‘mixed bag’ of people working at CSG, from the traditional ‘family person’ to the younger, sociable type who wants the car and the tshit but in general people get on well, help each other out and socialise both in and outside work. Career Development - Set career path where you can focus towards becoming a Principal Consultant or down the Management path with set milestones to achieve which in general are well kept to. You can influence your own direction and are supported down which ever route you choose. - Inhouse Training Team which if I am honest I have mixed opinions on, been there done that themselves, are always willing to get involved and help but perhaps need to be a little more open to new ideas/changing times. Other Points - CSG invested a lot of money into new laptops, CRM and Phone systems to allow you to work anywhere you can get Wifi/decent phone signal. Remote working is definitely a thing a now. I think CSG are still coming to grips with the whole remote working and is still a work in progress to a degree but steps in the right direction. - New office refurb, great space to work, hot desking, chill out areas etc for me this is great as it takes you away from that ‘rows of desks’ telesales environment. - Dress down – wear pretty much what you want in the office -not forced to sit in a suit to be on the phone but if you want to you can - Not a city centre office, for me this is a pro although for some maybe a con. Free parking too!

Cons

- There are times where you do feel a little micro-managed. I think when the chips are down a little bit then this is the go-to-approach from management but at the same time it is a Sales Job and I can’t suggest alternatives either. If you are performing then you are generally left to ‘crack on’ until otherwise. - Sometimes I feel there are times where perhaps people put their own interests first rather than looking at the bigger picture. Again I think this is nature of the beast when people can earn commission but more could be done to encourage more cross team integration/mixing business - Sales Director can be a little one-dimensional at times and the approach in general does work, but there are occasions where an adapted approach would probably achieve better results - I think CSG handled COVID in an okay manner. On the whole they were supportive to staff but at times perhaps a more personal ‘case by case’ approach may have been better rather than a one size fits all. Easy to criticise in hindsight of course. - Internal communications could be improved sometimes to avoid rumours that aren’t true.

Thank you for leaving such an open and honest review of CSG. It’s good to know that you see a lot of positives in our working environment, but equally the negatives are something that is important to hear and it is all very valuable feedback that we are taking on board so that we can make positive change.
