Growth is limited after the first few months- Things started to get stagnated in terms of challenge and new experiences. For every 1 new/exciting project, there was 30 tickets fixing mundane issues in Outlook or printers, etc. You can only grow into getting these exciting projects a bit more often, but all those mundane issues will still be there, but that is the nature of the position.
Horrible Phone system- Phone systems have been bad pretty much since I started working here. Hard to give support when your own phones are bad. Internet is also pretty bad.
Not much recognition from management- Only real recognition I felt when I was excelling at my job was in my paycheck from the bonus. Not necessarily a deal breaker but it was rare to feel appreciated by management.
Some decisions are counter intuitive- They recently announce a decision that would punish mistakes by taking away bonus money that we worked for. Not exactly motivating and actually has the opposite effect. Nobody wins because obviously we are going to learn from mistakes we make, no need to take away our hard earned bonus.
Overall good place to work for someone just getting into IT. Most Cons are easily fixed by management, which I hope they do for the friends I made at work. How long you work here can vary depending on your ambition levels and how far you want to get in your IT career. There are a few guys here that have been here for 2+ years and they seem OK with their jobs, but I didn't want to be IT support for any longer than I needed to. If I wasn't looking to advance my Security career, I would still be working here.
