Pros

Bromsgrove Mission Hills (BMH) is situated in Shenzhen China, which is near the Mission Hills golf course and has it's natural beauty. It is, however, very far from the rest of Shenzhen causing further isolation.

Cons

Bromsgrove Mission Hills has the potential to be a decent school. Unfortunately, it is headed by Charles Wall, the executive head, who in my opinion, is one of the most incapable, unqualified heads I have met. In order for a school to succeed, it requires a leader who is able to lead by example and is able to earn the respect of his/her staff. A head of a school should consider the needs and the well-being of his/her staff to ensure they are able to give their best to their students and support each other. The head of a school should understand that longer hours, disorganization, and more work does not equal quality. They should be able to conduct themselves professionally during school events, such as assemblies, parent conferences and academic ceremonies. It is the head's responsibility to ensure that all staff, regardless of nationality are working harmoniously, and calling on staff members individually when they are not performing , or when staff's attitudes are affecting others. It is the heads responsibility to make the school they are honoured to be part of, the best school possible. Unfortunately, with Bromsgrove Mission Hills, this is not the case. The executive head, Charles Wall, has failed at all the above, causing many staff members to leave and further more causing teachers who are passionate about teaching to hate coming into work. Furthermore, the executive head allows his family to roam the school during school hours when they have no concept of what if means to educate a child or have the appropriate qualifications to be an educator. If it were my child being exposed to this, I would be furious.

Pros

Excellent behaviour from students - Although they are quite shy and need a lot of probing to ask questions and be curious. Free lunch - Nice campus

Cons

The head has no compassion for the staff whatsoever. Medical insurance is one of the worst in Bangkok, very poor cover. Poor staff morale - Most staff at the school are unhappy and grumble constantly. SLT is generally great and more supportive than the head. English levels of students are progressively getting worse. Extra pressure on teachers of core subjects. Sports is improving due to excellent sports team. Performing Arts is also very good, but that head is an absolute moron. Ex colleague works in that department and is leaving this year because of him.

Pros

Follow an international school calendar and don't need to do makeup days. Most of the staff are nice people.

Cons

I go into work hating my life every day. Never had this feeling at any other school I've worked at. The management is clueless hence why the school is going downhill, last academic year we had almost double the amount of students, now some of our entire year groups consists of only 7 students and Senior 7 and 8 has been closed due to having no students wanting to continue at this school. Would highly recommend not working at this school unless you're willing to sign away 2 years of your life and endure daily stress. I used to enjoy being an educator and coming into work every day to educate the youth, now I hate every single moment of it.

Pros

greenery of golf course but very boring unless you like golf

Cons

"A great place to work." was written by the principle. Management frequently bullies and harrasses thru messages at all hours, management makes rash decisions that hurt staff and students such as quick shifts to online teaching for any reason school may be cancelled, management does not listen to any ideas you have for improvement and frequently lies if you do speak with them, managers are racist believing only British people are competent and other nationalities of people are viewed and treated as servants such as direct orders and other bullying. Year over year the school loses 20-30% of students and no staff stay past a contract experiation. HR breaks multiple Chinese labor contract laws and outright lies to you when questioned about it. the school will threaten you and harrasses you with your visa as leverage. The school lies calling themselves international but rather it follows the local Chinese curriculum. You will be asked to use Wechat translate on your phone to translate pages in advanced books and teach that way. This is nearly impossible and most teachers follow no curriculum.

Pros

Nice kids, nice staff, great facilities

Cons

Staff are expected to do too much, it sometimes feels like a pointless exercise and you have to work every Saturday morning during term time also.
