Soul-Sucking and Degrading

Pros

Most of the staff and teachers were great people and awesome to work with. This is a workplace where you interact with so many people from other cultures.

Cons

The boss completely ruins the experience for everyone who works there. I didn't know a single person who liked him. He treats his staff like slaves while pretending he's a saint. Had he not been in charge, I would have loved working here, but he is unreasonable, ignorant, and egotistical. The things he makes the receptionists do are absolutely ridiculous; from spraying febreeze after he uses the bathroom to making them run all over town to do personal errands for him, he treats them like his personal assistants (which they are not, and were not told in the interview they would be doing such tasks), and when they are not around, he recruits other staff to do his bidding. Many of the people who have left this company left solely because of him. This business is an unfortunate example of how a great business can suffer deeply from poor management.

Toxic environment with bad management

Pros

Most of the staff and teachers are great and fun to work with. People are generally willing to help each other out, and when management is out of the office it is a fun place to work. Employees can take group language classes for free, which is a nice perk.

Cons

The president of the company is terrible to work for, and has created a very toxic work environment. He is incompetent, doesn't respect professional or personal boundaries, and is difficult to get along with, but is incapable of recognizing himself as the problem so employees are constantly being blamed for his mistakes. The other reviewer who mentioned numerology wasn't kidding - this and even more outlandish methods are used to make decisions, even when those choices don't make sense from a business perspective or make it more difficult for staff. Departments are continuously understaffed, partly due to attempts to cut costs and partly because of the high turnover due to the poor work environment. If it wasn't for the incredible staff who bend over backwards to make things work, this business would have closed long ago.
