Pros

Decent comp decent office (assuming they don't cancel the lease)

Cons

Reposting because HR is busy reporting reviews > be bitmex > create innovative product and become market leader > make loads of $ in the process > get pursued by regulators for breaking rules > founders spend more time focusing on this and lawyers > hire new ceo to help take care of company > ceo ran a tradfi exchange. same thing right? > ceo hires all his buddies from previous gig, all fellow tradfi bros > execs make big $ to spend months figuring out what to do > big plan involves building everything to compete with binance and ftx > hire people to build stuff > all this while customers and employees leaving in droves > old employees replaced with new ones so all ok > ok, why are the customers leaving? > customers want new products > cool, just make more copy-paste products that competitors launched months ago and pray > customers don't care > let's launch a token > customers still don't care > need to look more legit, let's buy no name bank > oh wait, government said no > market share still falling > oops > founders finally realize they need to do something > maybe focus should be on existing business > drop all expansion plans > fire dozens of people > try to sell those remaining hopes of a better company > maybe a spot exchange will fix everything > who knows > market share still falling > management still figuring out what's going on

Pros

-There are lots of ongoing projects (could be good or bad). -Everyone at executing level is amiable and intelligent -Lots of potential for career development, due to above. -Base pay is market rate, not below. Bonus could be (potentially/in theory) decent. -Bar and pool table. -There are cases of global mobility (between Asia/Europe/NA). -Health insurance is absolutely incredible. -Despite the withering market share, balance sheet is ironclad from years of market dominance and job stability is guaranteed at most levels. -Also despite the withering market share, BitMEX still carries a strong brand name that can propel you to greater heights if you decide to leave. -The company is still rapidly expanding and continues to grow despite headwinds.

Cons

The CEO - not only is he floundering to keep the business afloat, he obscures the grim reality of company performance then blames it on "market conditions" without a modicum of accountability. He does not seem to understand, nor care for, what keeps employees happy. The only employees that he is keeping happy are his boys from Germany that he's brought over on hefty expat packages while those who have served their time and have proven themselves are not promoted (e.g. why wasn't the group finance controller, who is loved by his colleagues and has extensive years in Asian finance/crypto, made CFO? He'd worked at BitMEX for THREE years, previously at Jane Street, when the current CFO was brought over from Germany... followed by the COO, CCO...).
