Pros

- Work alone - Take lunch/breaks basically when ever you want - Provided company uniform ( even winter coats + boots ) - EXTREME AMOUNT OF AVAILABLE OVER-TIME - Paid training ( use to be 3 months but has been shortened to less than 1 month ) - Frequent raises which is locked in stone by union ( every 1040 hours $1 raise ) - Company provided cellphone ( which is monitored ) - Employee discounts on Bell products and partners ( 35% off you Bell bill ) - Every day is different, every job is different so keeps things fresh - 2 weeks paid vacation - A very nice skill set you will learn which can help you for any future job in the telecommunications industry - Benefits ( they're not that great but better than nothing. You pay 50% and company pays other 50% but that changes with different employment status. ) - Defensive driving training

Cons

- Low starting wage $14.20/Hr - The amount of over-time ( You'll be maxed out at 48 hours every week 100% of the time ) - You're schedule will change on a daily basis with hours being added or removed with little to no notice - NO WORK/LIFE BALANCE!!! - VERY STRESSFUL!!! VERY VERY VERY STRESSFUL! - Only 1 guaranteed day off per week ( you have 1 day 100% guaranteed and 2 other days off which they can and will force you in ) - No requested time off days ( it will be denied regardless of how far in advance you request it ) - 4 hour shifts which you will be forced to come in for - Absolute GARBAGETRAINING! ( it use to be ok but recently they've chopped the training time down to 1/4th of what it use to be and you'll still have the same skill set ) - Management will only treat you as a number ( unless you get 1 of the few good managers however they will only be good to you if you bend over backwards for them ) - 80%+ of the management has never been a technician and couldn't do an install or repair themselves - The vehicles you drive are fairly new however they're pool vehicles which means you share them with everyone else so they will very gross and very messy - You will never have a weekend off until you hit full-time which will take years! ( I've been there 3+ years and i'm still regular part-time ) - NO ADVANCEMENT OPPORTUNITIES AT ALL ( it's all based on seniority and you'll never get a different position unless its a floor sales position in a Bell store ) - Management will micro manage the HELL! out of you making you will you don't know what you're doing - You will lose 60-70% of your training class due to quitting within the first 3 months due to management and poor work/life balance.

Pros

- paid month training (practical and theoretical in class and ride alongs with senior techs ) -ok benefits - work independently and without supervision. I only see or talk with my manager once a month or less, however i am home dispatch and work from home (save lots on gas but rare to get) -work is different everyday, can be challenging at first (copper) but after some months under your belt can be fairly easy with experience -lots of OT avaliable - explore your city and surrounding area and meet new people. - raises every 1040 hours as PT and every 6 months as FT to a max of $34 as of new collective agreement, $15 starting wage.

Cons

-So this may be lengthy and sound like the 4 stars inst warranted, i like the job but there are a lot of gripes i have with the company and organizational structure as a whole. For starters the whole metric system is a joke and needs to be abolished! I get it, I understand they need a way to see results and quantify them, but it comes to the point where quantity trumps quality. this company has your performance measured by the day, month, quarter and year and you are expected to meet certain metrics at year end review. At times it can get rather tedious arguing with managers over numbers but at times you have to to justify why things look a certain way. one month they might say your taking too long and your efficiency is bad, so you speed up, now they say your rework is too high (repeat jobs where a tech comes out to fix your mistake) and you need to work on that.Other times your pulling your hair out because managers don't seem to realize the 2 metrics correlate with each other. Work too fast and mistakes will happen, take your time and do it right and you make less mistakes, pretty simple concept management cant grasp. -This kinda ties in with metrics, but depending on your area the quality of the network can really impact your numbers. for example i work in a mostly rural area with crap cable. a lot of jobs i do need to be incompleted to be sent to cable referral, thus invoking my manager to rag on about my complete metric. at times ive had managers tell me to throw out the bell standard for acceptable lines just for the sake of getting that complete number, basically encouraging you to not do the job right, but in a way that benefits management. -everything is timed and at times completely unfair! come on 15 minutes for an install is a joke... that's the time it takes for you to do all your mandatory tests, let alone actually confer with your customer. Average time allotted is an hour (repair and some install tickets), 15 min jobs flow the odd time and basically screw over your day. -Lots of OT can be a negative at times. Summer time is basically forced OT no exceptions. i have no kids so i like it but i can see family men take issue with this facet. -This may be more at my work center, but I feel like the company can be a good ol boys club. lots of friends of friends and nepotism making it hard for good hard working employees to move up the ladder.

Pros

They have no Pros to be honest

Cons

Everything is Bad there DO NOT WORK THERE. The Managers suck all they care about are their bonuses and effectiveness. Pay is Very Bad $14.20 to start and we're out there in all weather conditions doing very Dangerous work at times. Very bad scheduling They expect you to wait on call WITH NO PAY the same day up to 1pm to know if you're working at 5pm SAME DAY. They cut the time and added more work and expect technicians to come out more than 100% for that day. When youre working they try to force you to stay overtime but they do it in a way that it wont look too bad. they give you jobs that they know will take you longer than the the time thats given. So you end up staying late or getting stuck on that job. Cant get a promotion Ive been there for over 3 years and Im still a regular part time employee and I have to get to Senior part time before I can moe up to full time which might not be for a few years in general its a Very BAD COMPANY
