GASLIGHTING RAMPANT HERE

Pros

Better-than-average pay and okay benefits for a small company/good PTO & holiday leave

Cons

If you want to become a basket case in no time at all, work at BASYS! Many managers at BASYS are gaslighting experts. Expertise in the damaging psychological practice appears to be a management prerequisite. If an employee is being undermined, bated, belittled, relentlessly teased, or otherwise verbally and/or emotionally abused (all quite common here) by a manager, team lead, or co-worker, the victim best not alert or complain to HR or other management. Should you bring such behavior to management’s attention, shortly thereafter the abused and any co-worker who corroborates such abuse will be the ones who are considered the problem. Then the victim is further targeted for retribution by the abuser, who has been informed of their complaint by management, including HR (no confidentiality here). I watched this over and over during my tenure at BASYS. This company does not appreciate, let alone admire, truth to power. Why? Well, what might happen if upper management at BASYS, including the CEO, finally acknowledge that they have a real problem on their hands, especially with one manager in particular, who for years has been widely loathed and feared, not to mention considered incompetent. It took me months as a new employee to realize that the cause of my manager’s extreme, red-faced irritation every time I asked a question was that my manager did not know the answer. Does upper management fear that the acknowledgement that a manager is abusive and undermining could lead to a lawsuit? Much safer and financially prudent to blame years of victims, I imagine. Should you alert management to practices that you believe could be unethical and/or not in the best interest of the company’s merchants, you will become the bad guy. Should you alert management to abusive and inappropriate behavior by managers, team leads, or co-workers, you will become the bad guy. Do anything other than be a relentless BASYS promoter, self-promoter, and yes-man, and you will be subjected to intense scrutiny and targeted. Employees learn this quickly through their own experiences and the tales of others, and they fall in line if they want to preserve their jobs. Current employees are acutely aware of the treatment of years of employees who have gone before them, from bogus reprimands and write-ups to terminations to employees quitting because they can’t take it any longer. They know the price of honesty, their job, and they know that it is all meticulously planned in advance.

Pros

Nothing.....keep looking. ESPECIALLY FOR OUTSIDE SALES!

Cons

This company doesn't hold water to what the offer you. If you go to work here, make sure you read THE FINE PRINT! It's different for every person. Make sure you have your base salary doesn't go down after being there 6 months or a year. KNOW YOUR WORTH! I've been here almost a year and I've only signed 8 accounts and they want to let me go when this seems to be the norm for outside sells. Training was horrible and the owner does not deliver the message he gives to people when they are hired on. Everything is too good to be true. They don't want top talent to do what they do. Micro managing is their top priority. It's not about results, it's about the number of cold calls you make a day.

Terrible Management - Nepotism Rampant

Pros

Some of the people that work there are genuine and great people. Benefits weren’t the worst I’ve had, but not great. Pay is decent, but drastically varied across each department.

Cons

The worst part of working here is the hateful managers and team leads. The managers, especially one in particular who is widely distrusted and disliked throughout the entire company, are manipulative and mean. Despite being completely incompetent, they are promoted and untouchable. If you voice concerns or ask for help, you’re treated like an idiot and punished. HR is the opposite of helpful or caring and confidentiality is nonexistent. DO NOT TRUST HR! It’s definitely a “boys club”... The most powerful within the company are mostly men, and all good friends or family with the owners prior to working there. They seem to be the only ones immune to the threats and revolving door. Nepotism is stronger here then I’ve ever seen before! Expectations and workload are lied about during the hiring process. Once out of training they will continue to pile the work onto you without concern and will accuse you of being inept if you ask for help or push back at all. I personally witnessed and endured abuse from managers And higher ups from both major departments, and saw multiple coworkers crying from mistreatment. I also witnessed those same coworkers (and myself) get reprimanded for reporting it. The accused were always informed whenever a complaint came through and they wouldn’t bother to hide their contempt for those that opposed them. I, and others, were left with stress, anxiety, and sleep disorders after working here for years. It certainly wasn’t worth it. Most of the 5-star reviews on here, Google, Indeed, etc.. were coerced or forced out of current and former employees and their family members, some even bribed during terminations. I was personally pushed repeatedly to post glowing reviews and bullied when I didn’t.
