Terrible leadership, a complete joke

Pros

The people I worked with directly (management and associate levels) were incredible and truly got me through some difficult days. I would not have stayed as long as I did at this company if it weren't for them. This company also ignited my love for and taught me many valuable things about the startup world.

Cons

Not to be dramatic, but this place did some serious damage to my mental health and confidence in my professional abilities. The culture that the original founders built was quickly shut down when the new CEO came in and turned it into a corporate hellscape. I always want to support fellow women in leadership, but unfortunately some give the rest of us a bad name. The leadership execs knew nothing about the business nor made any effort to understand the work that was actually getting done (too far down the ladder from them), resulting in lost appreciation for those who were actually busting their butts to make sure the company stayed afloat (meanwhile doing the job of 3-4 people at half the salary of those doing nothing). We were constantly walking on eggshells hoping we didn't say the wrong thing that would get us fired or pushed out, then bracing for the false positivity that seemed to consume everyone at the leadership level. Completely toxic and I wish I had left far sooner than I did.

Pros

Remote work + they pay for health insurance.

Cons

- Unless you're a part of the leadership team, you're nobody, - COMMUNICATION ISSUES ACROSS THE WHOLE COMPANY. - Doesn't matter how hard you work, how much you work - the CEO has her favorite leaders and that favorite can change frequently. - Increasing responsibilities day by day, less work/life balance as time goes on, very minimal salary increase for promotions. - They sold a lot of us a dream on benefits and took them away from us. - Not many people survive over a year. Such high turnover that you're always left guessing who still works at the company and who's in charge of what. - Market closures every quarter. - CEO seems more worried about investors than actually enhancing the company.

Dumpster Fire!

Pros

I worked with some really great people that were giving it their all. Medical benefits were nice.

Cons

The leadership of this company is horrible. They think and act as though this is a tech company that has some side construction business and have no clue how home repairs, remodeling or construction is done. The CEO loves to point out that she is a GC, but I’m pretty certain she has never in her life done anything related to that industry, and it is obvious. I drank the cool aid when I first started, but I found out quickly what a dumpster fire this place is. The hubris of most of the leadership team is insane. They don’t listen, they don’t care and they really and truly have no clue how to run this place.(and that’s because they are all scared to stand up to the CEO). The CEOs answer is to just hire even more executive people she knows, get rid of anyone who pushes back or raises objections/concerns (most of whom have been in this line of work for many years), and plow on (down hill that is). I was frankly embarrassed to admit that I worked here before I (and a bunch of others) was laid off and was desperately looking for a new job. It just feels like the CEO is purposely trying to grab as much money as she can for herself and drive this company into the ground. Just look at the online reviews and compare before her and after she became CEO (and claimed founder status, really?!?)
