Pros
-I met really good team, with good team manager, good partner, and nice clients. (But as you know, this situation is not always the case. One of my friend has been bullied by his/her manager and cry every day) [1 star] -Location is good, very near to Sheung Wan MTR station. [1 star]
Cons
-No career prospect. Don't believe JobsDB or job post says "BDO has excellent career prospect". The truth is BDO is big 5, but still not the Big-4 in job market, the management never thought to gain reputation and treat the staff badly (please refer to 4th para. below). The result is that, even BDO take PwC or EY or KPMG or DTT's clients, it will never become one of Big-4, the job market has fixed their mind. It's pity for BDO to lose its advantage which built before Big-4 entered Hong Kong market. -Not transparent. Company policy, like promotion date, was never been followed. Also no salary review, the CFO should bear a lot of responsibility. -Low pay in the industry. BDO HK is the big 5 in Hong Kong audit industry, however, it cannot provide better salary than Big 4, then how could it compete? You lose reputation, then you must provide some thing more than big 4 then you can win, but so far, nothing is better in industry. -No care to existing staff. In 2024, BDO fired many people, but they said to the press only 30 were fired, very funny.... After that, BDO reopened the recruitment and ask the existing staff to recommend new staff....Are you serious? If you are short of people, the very first thing is to promote the existing staff, but you recruit the new staff...Many new staffs take higher grade and higher salary but don't know how to do audit, and ask the existing staff to teach....The result is more than half of the audit team (around 200 people left in whatever reason). This kind of human resource management is hopeless.
