Pros

The only pro is what little remains of the original Axis41.

Cons

Merkle has a laughable approach to business management. Axis is now struggling to be profitable because of it. Merkle intentionally stopped all marketing efforts for Axis41 and atrophied the brand (New Coke). Axis's employee culture is now corporate and boring. Employee retention plummets as they lose lots of top employees even when offering to match or beat offers. Axis just did a round of layoffs. Meanwhile, some employees are being overworked. Clients seem to be feeling it, too. The employee title integration, retracting accrued PTO, the insurance transition, the paycheck snafu. The list could go on. Axis is nothing like it used to be and Merkle is to blame.

Pros

The harassment was only verbal.

Cons

In a 12 year career, Axis41 stands as one of the most sexist and hostile agencies I’ve worked at. A member of senior leadership would regularly comment on my clothing and appearance--once he looked me up and down and said, “Good” instead of “Good morning”--and make inappropriate jokes. Really stupid inappropriate jokes, like “Is it on the Pubic Drive?” (instead of the “Public Drive”). It sounds silly on paper but day after day, for three years, it was awful. I stopped laughing at his jokes or saying they were ok. I talked to another member of senior leadership about it privately. What happened? Every project I was on was taken away and given to another male creative--one who did laugh at the inappropriate jokes. I don’t think they dared to fire me, but they essentially showed me the door. Why am I saying something now? Becuase I don’t want any woman to have the same experience of microaggressions and harassment. Ladies, you deserve better. Stay away from this place.

Pros

At first it was absolutely great up until Merkle acquired the company... Merkle was the WRONG choice for Axis41. They are only interested in top tier clients, where as Axis41 was thriving with middle tier clients and doing extremely well. Nearly all of the leads have vanished because of corporate bullcrap. Merkle has murdered the agency that I loved.

Cons

Well now that Axis41 is owned by Merkle Inc. (a company so cheap they won't even pay to get the domain Merkle.com that has to say something about them). This company is so detached from reality it's beyond comprehension! They recently laid me off and many others without regard for the business impact it would have on their bottom line! Just a month ago one of the directors sat our team down and was boasting about how well we were doing... 30 days later she laid off 1/3 of our team.
