Pros

-Employees care about the work and help one another

Cons

-No prevailing company culture or set of values. The person with the loudest voice sets the tone whether or not they are fit to lead. As a result, local cultures within teams and departments vary considerably and the company can seem fragmented. -Compensation is not competitive.

Employees are not valued

Pros

Apex has a good product and nice vision for online learning. But leadership is missing, literally behind closed doors every day, and only cares about revenue. The goal every year is "growth." There is no mission statement.

Cons

Leadership is telling employees how things should be, with no direction or support for how to get there. The company has a big retention problem, and a single exec is largely responsible for it. HR is aware of the issue and does not address it. There is no coaching or professional development program to make better leaders. As people leave, their positions go unfilled, and their work gets heaped on others. Apex does not pay market value salary and there is no system in place for raises for performance or cost of living. HR is not trusted. They are concerned with the best interest of the company not its employees. Unsuprisingly, there is no office culture. If you work at Apex you do not feel inspired or valued as an employee. And that's why I left.

Pros

- Middle management (at least in my department) are awesome and care about people's success - Co-workers are pretty friendly (most of them anyway) -Benefits are solid -A paid week off for X-Mas is certainly nice -Location is pretty nice -Not a bad place to start gaining experience for a career -Casual business attire

Cons

- Absent C-level employees - Low pay -The tech is consistently a generation or two behind -Due to the fragile nature of the leadership, the tech will not advance much -Due to the low pay, top talent does not stick around much -Very little communication between teams or departments -Change is slow and implemented poorly -Hardly any "company culture" -Office is so bland! I didn't realize there so many shade of beige!
