On paper it’s an appealing place to work, reality on the other hand is awful.
Pros
Lots of paid holiday time off. There is opportunity to help people who are in need of work and change lives.
Cons
Poorly equipped management and directors with no experience in leadership. Favoritism and longevity are the only way to promote. Qualification’s were often overlooked to make sure the work bestie got the promotion. I watched productive quality employees who were disliked by their supervisor get very different treatment than those who kissed up yet were ineffective in their position and made consistent mistakes. The vibe is very similar to mean girls in high school. Rules for thee but not for me. The focus was often on spending grant money regardless of how it helped clients. There was a good amount of waste when funding had not been distributed in a timely manner just so that it wouldn’t have to be returned.
