Pros Better pay than many supermarkets Aldi is known for paying above average for retail roles, especially compared with some other UK supermarket chains. Paid breaks A lot of employees mention this as a rare retail perk. Fast-paced shifts make time go quickly Many workers say you’re constantly moving, so shifts don’t drag. Good teamwork Because stores run with small teams, coworkers often become close and help each other out. Career progression Aldi promotes internally quite a bit. People willing to work hard can move into supervisor or management roles.

Cons Very physically demanding Probably the biggest complaint. Staff are expected to stock shelves quickly, lift heavy items, cashier, clean, and multitask constantly.
