Inergy's primary energy source is propane. The company retails about 340 million gallons of propane a year and wholesales more than 415 million gallons to residential, commercial, industrial, and agricultural customers. It serves a retail base of 700,000 customers through more than 310 service centers in 33 states, and provides wholesale and logistics services to about 350 distributors in 40 states and Canada. Inergy also owns natural gas storage facilities, a liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) storage business, a salt mining company in New York, sells and leases propane equipment, and operates a natural gas liquids (NGL) supply, logistics, transportation, and wholesale marketing business for independent dealers.
