Glitz meets groceries at Arden Group's 18 supermarkets in Southern California (primarily in the Los Angeles area). Through its wholly-owned subsidiary Arden-Mayfair, the company operates 18 Gelson's Markets (18,000 - 40,000 sq. ft.), which carry traditional grocery items, as well as imported foods and unusual deli selections. Most also feature coffee bars, fresh pizza, sushi, and bakeries. While some house in-store banks and pharmacies, most are too small to accommodate additional services. The company converted its last Mayfair Markets store to the Gelson's banner in 2009. Arden Group owns a shopping center in Calabasas, California that houses a Gelson's supermarket.
