I started as a VIP host, and they asked me to apply to be a full-time host after seeing my work. I submitted online. I stopped accepting interviews from other places because I dedicated my loyalty to the company. I interviewed with the VP of HR from the entire hospitality group, and the interview went smoothly. The hotel's General Manager contacted me to meet Cindy, the COO. I waited 3 months for that interview after they kept rescheduling it.
Then a new HR manager started and called me for an interview. He asked about me personally, and something seemed off after I mentioned my partner (also a male). Even though I passed the previous interview with the VP of HR, I received an automated rejection email after my interview with the new HR manager. He did not allow me to meet with the COO, even with my experience hosting at high-end luxury hotels. I was not given any explanation for what happened, no phone call, and most importantly, I was not receiving my checks in a timely fashion after already working there.
I applied online. I interviewed at theWit Hotel (Chicago, IL) in May 2023
Interview
Interview was extremely degrading. I was overqualified and was asked what am I doing with my life because I am still pursuing a degree in my free time. He asked me why do I not have a wide knowledge on wine when I just turned 22. For sure they wanted an older aged white man for the role
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Why do you want to work here? What makes you think you're a good fit
I enjoyed a very professional process with strong ongoing communication throughout my candidacy. Each individual I met was well prepared and receptive to learning more about both myself and my career goals.
