I applied online. I interviewed at chashama (New York, NY) in Jan 2026
Interview
My interview experience with ChaShaMa was extremely disappointing and unprofessional.
The hiring process involved multiple rounds of interviews and four separate assignments, including written responses and a detailed three-month social media campaign timeline (a document that ended up being 25 pages, built from scratch). In total, I spent 30–40 hours completing work for this process, including mock design work, written assignments, and timeline planning. Only one portion of the work was compensated, capped at $150, despite requiring significantly more time than the stated estimate.
Throughout the process, timelines repeatedly shifted. I was told several times that a hiring decision would be made within a certain week, only for the deadline to move again and again without clear communication.
The most concerning part of the experience was that I was explicitly told I would be joining the team and that a job offer letter would be sent later that day. Less than 24 hours later, I received another email stating that the organization had implemented a hiring freeze due to a budget review and the role was no longer being filled. To not have clarity on the finances of a role, while still stringing along candidates, and requiring 4 mostly unpaid and EXTREMELY complex and time consuming projects is beyond selfish, unprofessional, and just inexcusable.
Rescinding an offer after an extended interview process (within 24 hours of saying you got the job)—especially after requiring candidates to complete extensive project work—is highly discouraging and reflects wildly poor internal planning.
I feel extremely disgusted and burned by ChaShaMa and this experience was cruel and discouraging to say the least.
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
In person question: "“What would your first 30 days look like in this role, and how would you approach building ChaShaMa’s social media engagement strategy?”"
Mock project prompt: "Can you create a detailed three-month social media campaign timeline to highlight artist success stories, including posting schedules, content types, and engagement strategy across platforms?” (final project- 3 hrs/ max of payment, ended up being 25-30 hours worth of work to complete. Paid $150 total.)

Interview
I was asked to complete a design project and then had a quick chat. We talked about qualifications and interest. I unfortunately was never communicated with after providing another design and strategy project.

Interview
This was one of the worst experiences I have ever had interviewing ever in my life. On the third interview I was asked to meet the owner/founder and she discriminated me and treated me poorly. Not surprising considering the history related to her company. The founder made xenophobic remarks. Kept asking about my accent even though I speak four languages and have an MBA from a school in New York. She did, however, make a point of telling me that she only speaks one language. The founder was not appropriately dressed for the interview. After mentioning my accent three times, she tells me I am not the person for the role but that she would be willing to offer me a different role for less money but with a studio in exchange. The owner/founder kept answering her phone, texting and calling her doorman to reserve the swimming pool in her building during our brief and uncomfortable meeting. We shook hands and I seriously felt I had made a deal with the devil. This company serves no actual purpose and the only reason they exist is to evade taxes for her family's business in real estate.
